!!! 3 Watt BIG BOY single diode blue laser 3X18650 !!! ULTRA HEAVY PICTURES !!!

Re: 2.8 Watt BIG BOY single diode blue laser 3X18650 !!! ULTRA HEAVY PICTURES !!!

Awesome :drool:I'm very curious to see the brightness of a 445 nm> 2W +Rep :)

EDIT: "You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Blord again" :(

This is a >3W laser! I'm pretty sure.

Great job on your build!

BTW, nice back yard!! It looks really nice to take beam shots in!:beer:

And also, what camera settings do you use, if you don't mind me asking. :yh:

The garden is a great place to be at this time of year. All the flowers are blossoming and it is very colorful now.

It wasn't totally dark at that hour. This is my EXIF file :

Can't wait to test it out on my Ophir sensor
Nice build you made there.
I love detailed builds.

Will make a LPM video of it.

Cheers, Sm

That's a massive fattie Blord, just awesome man! + (when it lets me again)

One important thing I noticed that wasn't mentioned, does it pop balloons?
:D

Re: 2.8 Watt BIG BOY single diode blue laser 3X18650 !!! ULTRA HEAVY PICTURES !!!

Thanks man! Are you using an ND filter by chance?

Re: 2.8 Watt BIG BOY single diode blue laser 3X18650 !!! ULTRA HEAVY PICTURES !!!

I don't have a ND filter. I never needed it for the photography. They were heavily used in the analog/film era but now you can change easily with PS :)

Or do you mean with the LPM ?

Re: 2.8 Watt BIG BOY single diode blue laser 3X18650 !!! ULTRA HEAVY PICTURES !!!

Ahh, ok lol. The reason I ask is because I find it difficult at times to take front beam shots without over exposure. But yours look so clean. Then again I am using an SD790 with CHDK installed, heh. Maybe I'll experiment and shoot in RAW and edit in PS.

Anyway, sorry to derail the thread a little. Awesome build once again and very nice pics!!

That's one amazing piece of hardware.

Re: 2.8 Watt BIG BOY single diode blue laser 3X18650 !!! ULTRA HEAVY PICTURES !!!

Damn out of stock on CN... wonder how good they are at sold out items or are they like DX and sold out means forever.:)

Re: 2.8 Watt BIG BOY single diode blue laser 3X18650 !!! ULTRA HEAVY PICTURES !!!

Nice clean build....:gj:

I do see something strange in the video and I'd like to see
the output using an OPHIR head as well from an acclimated
zero point. It may be higher than you estimate or your filter
reduction factor of 1.41 could possibly be off.

The reading was still climbing at a rapid rate with your filters
when your readings went over range.

How did you get/calculate/test your 1.41 reduction factor of
your filters that you are using..

Re: 2.8 Watt BIG BOY single diode blue laser 3X18650 !!! ULTRA HEAVY PICTURES !!!

I use the same diode on a lower setting. I measure 1241mW without filter on the LPM and 872mW with all the filters in place.

872/1241=0,703

That means 70.3% of the laserbeam is hitting the LPM after the filters. I use this percentage in my calculation for the full power reading.

The laser has been shipped to Smeerworst for a second readings. He has an Ophir 5W LPM. I want to know if my calculation is correct. :)

That is too bad. I don't know if they are going back in stock. I have a quote from Ric at CN company

Hello guys,

Price is a little high, that's because it's a limited version, all the cost of material&compononts sourcing and machining process is respectively higher than ordinary bulk-production lights.

The netweight of the torch is close to 0.4KG, it's a big light which makes the shipping cost expensive.

We have droped the price by 10%, 50usd each. Shipping cost is the lowest, for this light, we dont recommend non-registered mail post which just saves $ 2-3.

Thanks

Ric

Then the problem is that your filters do not drop the power
enough to get a valid reading with your meter.

With a dropping filter the reading must be below the max
overflow reading of the meter to be useful.

Its like using your 1.41 dropping filters to test a 10 watt
Laser on your meter. The reading of 1999 X 1.41 would
be incorrect.

The only way to do that with your meter would be to use a
filter that drops the 10Watt Laser's Power by more than 5
times... or <20% to read lower than 2000 (the max of your
meter).

I'm curious as to what the OPHIR tests will show...:yh:
