3.56W 445 Laser on ebay

I couldn't comment much because I hadn't kept up to date on 9mm 455 diodes....

3.56W would be an exceedingly rare diode, I think the best one so far as 3.4W?

More importantly they wouldn't do that at 3.5A... Could be something is off with his LPM also.

Ask him to send you a 3.5W+ build to LPM to test. I mean hist prices on ebay for the lasers, are actually decent, not sky high like some, and his feedback profile is good... but 3.5A that just doesn't seem possible.

He did ask me if I have a 3w+ LPM, so i'm assuming that's why he was asking.
I don't, however. Perhaps he would be willing to send one to a trusted member for testing, like DTR or Daguin.

That would be great.

If there is someway to drive the 9mm diodes harder, without just having them dim, and to produce 3.5W on a regular basis... that would be really great.

He sent me a message via YouTube asking if I had an LPM to confirm his results, so he is reading this thread. I'm not going to give him the time of day and reply to him though since he wasn't very polite about it.

Also if you take a look at his video he claims it peaks at 4W for one second.

4W? Right ok, lol. Unless he is talking about the very first 1-2 seconds when the LPM overshoots on the reading, no way that's happening. To me on a diode laser, the peak is whatever it is after 3-5 seconds on the LPM.

You can get a 4W peak a minute in when you add another laser...
Understanding there's some delay in readings, the jumps up and down that LPM had were a bit incredible for a diode.

If he's willing to let a third party test it to see if the reading is accurate and you simply refuse, then perhaps it's time to stop calling him a liar until you can prove otherwise.

Regardless of the results, I don't think he's intentionally lying. His readings are either accurate, or his calibration is off. Which I'm sure he would like to know if that were the case so he can have it fixed.

Everyone is too quick to make assumptions. I remember Clif (CajunLasers) showing up and he was ran off within his first couple of posts.

This has always been the problem with folks who build and turn around and sell. If he would have posted or shot his vids without the whole I'm selling the thing, people would prolly just be doubters instead of calling him a liar outright.

I think he has some thought put into some of those builds. I personally like his heatsink design in one of his vids, but without some credibility built on trust and reputation then of course members here will and obviously are going to be skeptical. I agree with Moh sit back and wait for some testing, give a guy a chance to back things up.

As far as some of his builds having dry joints and tape... Post some pics and let's see them.

lol i paused it when it hit 4.10W it was there for a fraction of a second. Efficient diode to maintain ~3.5W's for a while if his LPM is in calibration.

So, tell him to send it over. If all that's needed is a basic review and an LPM reading, a lot of people can do it.

On my ophir, moving the laser around, on the sensor, does certainly effect the reading... so that it jumps around, is imo nothing.

I'm just very skeptical of the diode being driven at 3.5A. That's way more than anyone else here is pushing them to, and certainly there are a few builders using the 9mm diodes.

Wait, he is banned from the forum? Why?

As I've said at least 3 times by now... and others have said, let's just get a laser tested. My skepticism isn't about the power reading, more what the diodes are being driven at.

For spamming the B/S/T it was posted above.

I got a phone call from Rick Trent today, I was busy at work so I missed the called but he left me a voice mail.
He wanted me to let you all know that he is not running these builds at 3.5A, that he is running them at 2.5A
He also said that he is not getting his diodes from DTR, and that he may be harvesting his diodes from a different projector than DTR uses.
He said the most he could ever get out of DTR's diodes was 2.7-2.8W

He also said he'd love to get someone to test it, he said he had someone come by his house with a 3W LPM but it began smoking when they tried to meter it.

Personally, I'm very curious. There may be a projector out there with 3W+ capable 445nm diodes. Would really like to see someone with a LPM capable of testing this step forward.

Where in TX is he? Hak may be able to pay him a visit with his Ophir.

Edit: Never mind it's Morristown, Tennessee. Don't know if anyone there has an Ophir, perhaps Qumefox? He hasn't been active in a long time though.

His best bet would be to send this to a third party if he wants to get it verified, someone with a 5W Ophir. IE, Daguin, Hak, DTR, Lazerer ect.
If he does have diodes that hit 3W on a regular basis people would pay a pretty penny for the diodes.
