Also, everyone notice how HumanSymphony is wearing safety goggles when he's lighting the cigar.

It seems there is some animosity towards kipkay but in all fairness he embodies the hack the world spirit and is a very nice fellow. He sent me here to you guys for help with building a laser and all I have heard since I posted is people running him down it looks like you would be grateful to him for sending people your way. Nobody is perfect at everything.
Am I to think that this is the type of flaming that is common place here?

Think what you want, KipKay is a douche.. He needs to stay away from lasers and maybe not tell people to shine blu-ray lasers at their face to look cool lighting a cigarette. I am glad you came here looking for advice for lasers, about the only thing I can tell ya is do not do what KipKay does, and NEVER shine a laser at your face... BUY A LIGHTER! :p

Why should we be grateful for getting a lot of noobs to the forum? Sure a few of them end up actually learning about laser safety, buying more lasers and contributing to the forum, but the large majority who come here after seeing Kipkay's videos are the kids who just want to burn stuff, pay very little money for their laser, do almost no work, and have all the information spoon fed to them. We get enough of those already.

The real tragedy is the countless people who see Kipkay's crap and never seek out any forum, learn any safety....

So they build one of those lasers, It dies, so they order a "killer burning laser" from the net, then hang out and "burn stuff" without goggles, without any regard for safety...

Then they start pointing them at things and in places they shouldn't....

Morons and lasers were never meant to be together.

I find that hard to believe.
In all fairness I never had a direct battery connected laser die :p Though I always used AAA which have good internal resistance. Hell, even Kenom was selling his mini reds without drivers. Not saying you shouldn't use a driver, but a lot of the time a driverless laser WILL work and for a long time :p

LOL

The only driverless lasers I've heard of living a long time are the ones powered by button cells. Granted your AAA build may last because of the low resistance, but I doubt something that uses AA batteries will.

Thanks bro!

I rest my case!

How could anyone who has any extensive bench tech experience explain to me how a DC battery of the proper (or under) voltage can create voltage spikes? Laser diodes like any sensitive electronics component are designed to have voltage deviations.

With that said and due to the extreme immaturity of some of the posters here, I will not be recommending anyone come here for information again. It's apparent that only a few in this thread were willing to offer assistance to the last guy I sent and for that, 'thanks'.
It's kind of sad because I not only respected this forum for the information that people could get here but I also donated to it. I never said all of my projects were perfect as I'm sure many of yours are not either.

Catch ya later.

I see you have not commented on the terrible safety advice (or lack of)
