Here is my home computer......Be amazed at the download and then be disapointed by the upload.

At least it's free. BTW, Iskor, How do you get such horrific upload to download ratio?

I just switched from verizon dsl 3mb/1mb to comcast cable 16mb/12mb. Apparently when you switch from another ISP they give you a good deal. I'm paying $15 a month for this, and it's not one of those 6 months things either :p

24.67mb/s down
3.4mb/s up
ping 11ms
right now the network is at 62%
I am connected to TV cable and right now is a typical time for old fat Belgians in my neighbourhood to slow me down by watching crap TV. I have unlimited downloads though, and even when the network is at about 50% (lowest I have ever experienced), I can torrent a movie with good seeding in about 6 minutes. Oh, and it costs €24 a month. Pretty cheap if you ask me.

I pay $50 a month for this service. It is normally $60. My internet works great when it works. Meidacom is the biggest pile of shit. The only way I got that price is by complaining about the crappy service. They said that price is only good for six months though. I'll complain some more when it's been about six months.

I've heard people complain about Comcast. They were my provider for two years adn they are great IMO. I've had more problems in one month with Mediacrap than I did the whole time I had Comcast.

Hmmmm....I get zero and then zero!

Which is nuts, as I have the fastest service tier offered by Comcast for residential service. I have to say I'm clueless as to why this won't work on my computer...???

I suppose it could be my virus protection - Norton Internet Security has a mind of its own with regards to sites it doesn't "like".

That said, I do know that when I log on with my mom's laptop, I get a displayed connection speed of around 14mb. This is a wireless connection, so I'd imagine that my directly connected desktop would do a little better.

This is the price I pay for living in the middle of nowhere - $72 a month and this is the type of speeds I get on my mobile broadband card at home (if I go just a few miles into town I hit around 1-1.2mb/s consistantly - I'm just fortunate enough to live in a serious "dead zone")...

Why did my 500th post have to be such a depressing topic ?!?
