Rich/Lifetime17 has suggested that we offer adjustable current boost drivers, so I looked into it and decided that we will have some prototypes made and get them into production once tested and approved. They will be in 16.8mm round and approx. 10 x 16mm rectangular form factors. Let me know if there are any particular specs that you would like and I will see if they can be worked into the design. Thanks!

That sounds good, Gary; we can't have too many sources of good drivers!

PS - Good suggestion, Rich.

Hi Gary & BTG
Yes a good boost driver is really needed in both of those form factors. A boost driver to 1.8A is needed. Of course it needs to be adjustable. So if there is any other amperage configuration let’s here it.
But basically 1.8A adjustable with a pot.
Thanks Gary
Rich:)

Hi, Gary. I had emailed you a while back asking if some of your existing SL drivers could be reformatted to rectangular fashion etc. This is exciting though!!

Yes a boost good for up to 2a would be nice for some super compact builds.

Hi, Gary!! I hope all is well and you’re doing fine. Have you made any headway on new drivers?

I only had a disappointment when I ordered a driver from them, it never made it to me and he didn't have tracking to show what happened to it, no offer to make a reduced price for a replacement either :( It wasn't a cheap driver, I think I was out close to 40 or more dollars, won't reorder. I'm more disappointed in the lack of their trying to make the issue right, but on the other side of that coin, I didn't press him to do so either. By now, this is probably long forgotten, it's been several months now.

All orders should go out with tracking so we can see if they shipped! I also have no reason to think he didn't ship it, but without that tracking I'm left with nothing but a hole in my wallet. If it had been shipped priority mail there would have been $50 insurance which is automatic for that class of mail, but he didn't do that either. I used to have a link to his web site in my signature for a year in the past too, because I liked his offerings, only left with disappointment now.

More his loss than mine, in reality, I have ordered thousands of dollars of laser parts from DTR, and once I am happy with a laser parts vendor, I keep ordering from them, a pity this didn't work out and I won't reorder and ask to make this good now, too late due to the lack of support on the problem or trying to work it out, no suggestions from them to do so, so I walked.

All of the above said, I have never seen a report from anyone else who has had a problem with them, so you are all probably good to go to order from them without concern, but insist on tracking!

Gosh, AK that’s unfortunate. I’m sure if you contacted Gary with the emailed invoice that he’d make it right.

I searched my records and the only order I could find that we received from Qatar was a heat sink from 5 years ago. And like I said, everything goes out with a tracking number.

Oh, and we don't even sell a $40+ driver, so you must be talking about some other vendor. ;)

Sorry for the long delay in response, apparently I am no longer receiving emails when someone replies to a thread that I'm subscribed to. I had a chance to test the boost driver prototypes but had to send them back to the designer for more work. I'll report when I am able to run some successful tests. Thanks for your continued interest!

Great news!! Our 20mm DTR diode module adapter for the larger S4X host will be available in about a week for $14.99 on the Survival Laser stores.

Here are some photos of the adapter alone, next to the standard bezel, and mounted on the S4X with the DTR 20mm diode module:

Just want to say Survival Lasers is simply awesome and I haven't even recieved the items yet. Between you (SL) and DTRs laser shop you make building straightforward and fun. 100% respect for bringing your passion to the laser community. You're a man of my own heart, built my first HeNe Laser in 7th grade, new to diodes though. How times have changed! Many thanks going to order much more, got the laser bug!

Thank you for having taken the lead and started this business and made it possible and straightforward to buy components for the laser hobby. You really are one of a kind in the USA. Your customer service is excellent and so are your products.
While I do understand that you're a small operation, I hope that you guys find a way to improve your ship times some time in the future.
Cheers! and thank you!
