Free speech is under attack.
There is that girl who was charged because she told some depressed boy to go jump of a water tower and he did.
People don't understand why our rights are important as printed in black and white.
This has been tried before, they wanted people to do away with probable cause so cops could catch drug dealers, only thing is once the law is changed then they can come in and search your wifes underwear drawer any time they want, not just that dastardly drug dealers house.

In New York they can stop and frisk you just because they want too.
This is wrong.
He who trades freedom for security will have neither.

If you're talking about this case; Teen girl charged with manslaughter for encouraging friend to commit suicide | KXAN.com

The girl definitely deserves to be punished.

In New York they can stop and frisk you just because they want too.

This is true throughout the US, and it's only a question of pretext required for the search. It is wrong, but as I see it, NYC is just more honest about it.

It started to snowball after it was made legal to detain people without charging them.

There are data mining programs searching social media constantly for key words and phrases.
Just type ( DON'T DO THIS ) something about a threat of bodily harm against our top man and see if you don't have cops at your door.

Cowboy, I am sure you know the history here, that Snowdon's "revelations" were really nothing new. The ability to mine data began with the advent of telephony and radio utilizing the ground wire and direct radio intercepts. The public may think ECHELON began in the 60s but it dates back to the 1947 agreement between the US and England (actually all the Commonwealth nations) to share the data. The data at that time began by jumping into bed with Mother Bell; voice, telegraph, and fax. The reason for the agreement from the US perspective is the prohibition by Charter, for the CIA (and other members of the so called intellegence community,) from collecting and using the intel on US citizens. The concept is simple. England simply gives that information back to the US thereby circumventing the mandate and obtaining data on a US citizen who is a target. I became aware of ECHALON in the mid 90s.

Having literally lived in the middle of this since the late 70s and knowing people who are essentially the cogs in the machine, I can attest to the fact that certainly prior to 9-11 interagency rivalries, the constant jockying for position, interferes with the utilization of the data.

While I do not beleive the government with respect to either the forensics (the what) of what transpired on 9-11 or the who, I found the response rather interesting. The claim was interagency rivelry and a failure to share information. The CIA and the DCI (Director, Central Intellegence,) had been created as the point agency (person) for the collation and analysis of data/information. If I am correct on 9-11 there were 13 member agencies. In 1947 the "community was a lot smaller." If you would like to see copy of the original, and I am not kidding, the original declassfied documents pertaining to the fouding of the CIA and the intelligency community, you can see it by clicking on the link that follows. Essentially, in addition to creating the CIA, the then existing agencies that were collecting intelligency were brought under the umbrella of the new CIA(while I think it is availabe from the government printing office...this was gift from DCI George Tenet, see the third page if curious:):) Please don't tell anybody that it came from me lol)::angel Original Documents, Founding of the CIA

The history is really interestting involving Wild Bill Donovan's OSS which he allong with Allen Dulles tried to create out of the OSS but squashed by Trumen mainly due to intelligenc breaches at the time. CIA failures in the next years were in part due to James Angelton's relationship with Kim Philby. (The early agents spent time learning from MI6.) However, the one lesson they did not learn was this: Trust No one because Philby was of course a Soviet double agent who did his best to prevent detection, including making sure there were certain things the Americans would not learn thereby thwarting their counterintelligency capabilities.

Present members of the intelligency community:

Air Force Intelligence
Army Intelligence
Central Intelligence Agency
Coast Guard Intelligence
Defense Intelligence Agency
Department of Energy
Department of Homeland Security Post 9-11
Department of State
Department of the Treasury Post 9-11
Drug Enforcement Administration Post 9-11
Federal Bureau of Investigation
Marine Corps Intelligence
National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (Grew out of Defense Mapping)
National Reconnaissance Office
National Security Agency
Navy Intelligence National Intelligence
Office of the Director of National Intelligence Post 9-11

Getting back to post 9-11, one would think that if the US government came to the conclusion that interagency rivalries and the shear size of the entire member community prevented sharing and proper colation of information, that if anything, they would consolodate and make the community smaller!

Instead, of course, they did the opposite adding other layers over the DCI...DHS and DNI (the Office of the Director of National Intellegence) who became the superspy that the original DCI of the CIA was supposed to be!

If anything, they should have looked to Israel with its compact MOSAAD. One thing that most people do not know is that in a sense they have a lot more intelligency employees than publicly known. Their orginizational chart depends upon sayanims , helpers who are the citizens of other countries, to either obtain intelligence or otherwise get something done or lend a hand to MOSAAD agents. In this way, their network of spis is quite large. In addition, they have the Shen Bet, that has a number of duties and in some was like the CIA dealing with internal security and counterintelligence which in addition to law enforcement is what the FBI does.

I think all the US government accomplished by adding more layers was to further complicate the gathering, analysis, and disemination of intel to the proper people that make the informational actionable.

As for the data center...suposedly "metadata," even if they manage to get it stored will they be able to connect the dots? Of course, the problem is if they can. If the dots lead to you, you are in trouble!

Aldous Huxley got it right.

With much irony, in my opinion, another, rather unlikely person got it right in his books regarding the ever increasiong authoritarian nature of the US goverment, none other than John Dean.

The communications industry has to first update the government before deploying new technology so they will always have the ability to monitor any and every wire and wireless transmission, it is built into the infrastructure.

When multiplexing electronics became the normal hardware entire buildings were erected to contain the infrastructure necessary to monitor any and all communications and now every pc sold has backdoors built in, the hard drive manufactures have to put in the government accessibility software.

The anti spyware makers have to omit the government backdoor software and not alert the pc.... I want to say owner, but we are just users, we don't own the software in many cases we just pay to use it, read your contracts, LOL.

We know they are able to monitor anything and supposedly now that the UDC is online they have a record of every single thing, wire and wireless.

The patriot act was supposed to knock down all the legal barriers preventing timely sharing of intelligence. But worry not we can trust our leaders...right?

Today encrypting is said to be an issue as much financial and sensitive business electronic communication needs it, but many are banned from using 128 bit encryption because the government wants to be able to see everything.

The real problem is all our expensive hard earned military technology is said to have been stolen by foreign cyber spies.

It seems we have outsmarted ourselves and shot our own foot with all this open architecture.

I fear if a global conflict ever did erupt that our enemies would instruct all our satellites to crash into the sea and turn our drones against us.

I really hope we have a back up plan but from what I have seen I fear we may be in trouble.

As theoretical physicists Michia Kako said, Americas greatest secret weapon has been our foreign genius grant system as most of his academic scholars are foreign students.

While we celebrate athletics our foreign competitors celebrate and award academic excellence, we are falling behind the rest of the world, tallest buildings, fastest trains, fastest internet, hell even Poland's main battle tank is set to be the best, Germany has had the number 1 spot and even the new Russian tank has a remote upper torrent and machine gun, we still have a place for a soldier to sit on top and play target.

While we light the white house in rainbow colors and distract the masses with class warfare the rest of the world is busy marching ahead.
European hospitals are cleaner and have less resistant infections and a lower infant mortality rate.
Foreign advancements are outpacing our own as we fail to even keep things clean.

We are busy looking in as our leaders live for the moment and plunder, restrict, and work against our success for special interests be they foreign or domestic.

China backs their industry and is planning ahead, what the hell is wrong with us, have we forgotten histories lessons, are they even teaching anything other than socialism and conformity in schools today?

Have we already had our brightest moments, are we to become subjects to the handful of bureaucrats become Kings and Queens of the late great United States.

Someone is going to have to pay the bills, after they plunder the wealthy then what, it's multi generational housing for the wage slave taxed to the hilt masses who will have to be make the sacrifices to support our masters thievery and incompetence.

Will China set up mini cities within our borders, will they eventually free us from the tyranny of our own government gone rogue?

I know this sounds crazy, but as Hillary goes before the FBI and a complicit justice department and executive branch attempt to shelter the criminal I wonder if we are watching the moments that will decide our future path?

Will we even get a fair vote count this time, or is the whole game already rigged, are we just watching a puppet show while they turn the screws?

Civilian drones are not crashing airplanes, now that I think about it the government does not want to do away with our toy airplanes, they want to turn millions of toy owners into another revenue stream.

Just like tobacco, it was all about protecting people from a known addictive poision, so much death and sickness, but for enough money they will forget all that and make a few token laws to protect us while raking in a huge revenue stream.

About two years ago I was a satellite technician supporting the USAF Reaper and Predator UAV's, I was the guy who kept their satellite links working for remote control and video feeds. Satellite links will let you fly these things on the other side of the planet, only problem is the dish antenna inside them was close to 28 inches diameter, kinda hard to put one of those in these small hobby UAV's.

I wonder if GM cars in Canada still log my movements? I have a Pontiac with OnStar in it. I tried removing it once but its tied into the ECU.

If you don't want to use it, just disconnect the antenna from the OnStar receiver, no way it will work then.

Just like the electronics buried deep in new cars. They record where you go, how long you are there, your driving habits and so on. Then they can shut off your car and lock you inside whenever they feel like it. They can use that record to build a case against you.
Oh, your cellphone also!

Lock you inside a car? Are you suuuuure? Pretty sure a car's locking system is specific, even key chain fobs use different frequencies/waves on the same model so that your car fob doesn't unlock another. You'd need an obscene amount of people involved to accomplish that, not to mention it is illegal. The logistics of monitoring people in that way are absurd. They can certainly do so with a telematics box for insurance purposes, but only with prior consent, and a box needs to be installed to transmit that info from the ECU. Most on board ECUs are capable of some telemetry in newer cars, but I don't think anyone is capable of locking a door remotely without your consent from some underground lair. *strokes white cat* It seems very far fetched to me

I'm not trying to be rude, but let me just go ahead and say you don't know what you're talking about.
OnStar can lock and unlock your car doors from satellite.
They can also shut down the car.
The US government wants that on all cars so cops can shut down fleeing cars and much is already being mandated, we may not even know until later what we have, but already they are making it illegal to tamper with your cars programing, calling it intellectual property of the automaker, even though you have paid for the car you don't own the software.

Anyone with receiving equipment and the know how can steal digital auto codes, and most modern cars have RFID in the key fob and digital transmiters to remote lock, and unlock the doors, trunk, start the car, ect. It's not a different frequency for each car owner, that's ridiculous, it's a digital code and tech savvy thieves can intercept them and get into your car, that's why they also include the RFID in the key fob now.
However thieves can steal that too by pinging it, just like the cars do.

People have hacked cars remotely, it has already been done!

I guess you have not bought a new car in the last decade or read anything about what's going on.

Michael Hastings Mercedes was likely hacked causing his Las Vegas crash, the guy had no speeding tickets but he was outspoken against our corrupt government and had a big speech coming up before his car took off and crashed on the strip at 100 miles per hour.

The fact is cars are built on the same open architecture as your pc so that you can wirelessly link your Ipod and cell phone, and now that your gas pedal, gear shift, brakes, steering are often drive by wire or electric assist it's all tied to electronics, and there is a wireless door into your cars ECU and if you know how you can re flash the ECU via a wireless connection.
Have you not seen how cars can parallel park themselves? Accident avoidance, skid recovery, traction control.
There's no magic elf under the hood, the cars computer has control of the steering, gas and brakes.

If all RC aircraft (aka "drones") are required to be registered and it's a success, lasers will be next in line. This is very different than vehicles. I can own as many cars as I want. I only have to register the ones I am currently operating on public roadways.

Sad thing is, the folks that register their drones will not likely be the trouble makers. Well, not until annual drone registrations fee are required and they forget to pay on time.

While this may seem like the logical next step for laser control, it would be nearly impossible.

A drone will run anywhere from several hundred to several thousand dollars, but a you can get a laser that could be an actual hazard for under $5. I know for a fact that I have at least 1 key-chain laser pointer hidden in between couch cushions or at the bottom of a junk-drawer, and I can't be the only one. But you don't just loose a drone, which is why they can get away with making people register them. Plus, you can almost always identify a drone, but it can sometimes be difficult to tell the difference between a laser pointer and a pen.

So in short, it would not be practical to make people register their lasers. I'm sure they'll think of something to restrict them though.

I think both are equally impractical. That is why I said "If".

Some agency (I can't remember) announced 1 million drones will be opened on Christmas day. Seems like an over estimate, but with current prices, the number will be substantial.

Here is a FPV quad for $90 (day and a half remaining on sale) at GearBest. Prices will continue to drop. A decent quality video/audio transmitter and receiver can be had for around $20. Cameras and monitors are laying around us, but are also cheap to buy. It would be easy to convert a "normal" quad to FPV.

"The US government wants that on all cars so cops can shut down fleeing cars..."

You keep your finger on the pulse of the same stuff I do:bowdown:

We ought to start our own think tank lol

I don't know why suddenly this thread made me think of what is probably the biggest, and I mean biggest spy story/scandal that somehow received absolutely no publicity. If you heard this story my kudos!

In 1985 a company named Inslaw was forced into bankruptcy because the Justice department held back payments to the company for some rather unique software. We are talking about 1.8 million.

The software was called PROMIS ( Prosecutor's Management Information System) and without getting into all the details which cover several books, the software started out as just what it sounds like, a way to track cases through the Federal courts. The enhanced version however could delve into finance in an unprecedented way. It could interface with banks, track individual movements of people (a vast number at that!) It could do far more than this but suffice it to say that if it did nothing more, the software is very powerful.

The entire story has a few threads. I will only highlight one. The software was stolen by media mogul Robert Maxwell who turn out to be working for MOSAAD. A trapdoor (or backdoor) was placed in the software and then the software was sold to quite a few countries that Israel had interest in such as China and Iran. There were a lot of others. The point is that not only did Maxwell make a fortune ontop of his existing fortune selling it, but it opened up a portal for Israel to gather an incredible amount of intel from countries as they used the software for diverse purposes.

Governments are looking to gain control over its populations in ways never imagined previously. Some people think that HARP is not only used to control the weather, but people's moods as well. There are also the purported GWEN towers.

I know VLF and ELF has been used for a long time to communicate with our submarines around the world even though the bandwidth sucks, and some of those sites may be confused with something else, such as the space fence, it's just for listening I do believe, but I don't put weaponing anything past the worlds governments.

Actually we need to stay on top of it, the problem is when we no longer are able to control our own government, when we become subjects rather than citizens, it happens slowly over time with the loss of more and more freedom in the name of public safety. Willing fools are in favor of their own bondage as it is implemented slowly, usually affecting others until it's some freedom they care about that gets regulated permitted and taxed into unaffordable oblivion, but by then it's too late.

Dam silly citizen children, don't they know they need to be protected from themselves.

Just wait until all our currency is electronic and owning gold and silver is limited to a small amount of jewelry, it has happened before, not that long ago.

Then if they can get control of our medical system and assign a tax penalty for unhealthy eating habits, after all those fat smokers are a burden on our medical system that we all pay for, expect mandatory annual physicals, and fines deducted from your account if you fail to appear or fail to meet mandatory bmi goals.

This can all snowball fast once all the controls are in place.

You will know it's past serious when we can't talk about it anymore.

But I digress, the Russians are working hard on microwave and EMP technology, supposedly they shut down one of our AEGIS ships with a fighter jet mounted EMP device not long ago, reports vary.

However area denial microwave technology is already in use.

Just remember by the time we hear about this, and we have been for years, they are already way ahead with it's development and use, this is not a bad thing as long as it's "our" weapon and "our" military run by "our" government.
But if you watch the news, news that is already limited as to what they can't talk about, then you should be very concerned about our future.

For instance I saw with my own eyes protesters blocking the interstate just down the road from where I live during the Ferguson deal, but it was only on the local news once.
Now I understand not wanting to incite further rioting, but when the oathkeepers started taking positions on rooftops to defend Ferguson businesses, something local police were told NOT to do, Obummer started talking about taking military style equipment funding away from police departments.

The mayor woman, I forget her name, let it slip out.
She said " If they want to destroy, Let them destroy."
She repeated something she was told to do, then simply denied she said it as they replayed it, so it slowly just disappeared, like the IRS scandals and all the rest.
Strings are being pulled and people have a very short attention span, it's easier for most t put their heads in the sand and say, Oh that can't happen, that's silly conspiracy hype.

Now go register your toys and pay more tax.
The problem is, even if a registration number on the larger drones could be a good idea, it will get corrupted into a huge money grab, there will be a registration tax when you click buy now, and it will start small and get bigger over time until the large ones have a 300% tax and the small toys are 10% tax.
Some of you may think that's good, but if you have any real money saved up, remember you are in the cross hairs too.

It's not like we haven't worked our asses off and been royally screwed before.
I would rather raise hell at the onset and be proactive, than do nothing and try to get us unscrewed after the fact, if people speak up and this is no big deal then great, but we have dam good reasons to be skeptical and defensive, we need to be on point now more than ever.

Redcowboy... HOLY ****BALLS :can:

I know my last car had modern goodies but I'm not so sure if my current Civic has a system which can be hacked into. I know one thing for sure though, if I ride a motorcycle which is entirely mechanical I'm safe and they can't tax me per mile in the same way  riiiight? Say a 1990s Yamaha DT??
