Hello Guys!

I have something "Limited" on my Hands:D
It's a Laser Driver from Member Lazeerer.
He call it "X-Drive" (Cool name).

"X-Drive" It's A cute Medium size Driver And Range is ~100mA - 1.96A:beer: And the best, Does not need heatsinking.
Works with 2x 3.7V batteries and the Max Input is 15V.

I love the name ''X-DRIVE'', the dimensions are good and it has a very big advantage, it doesnt need heatsink at even 1,9A :drool:

@jimdt7 - Thanks. I could not think of a Name for it so i had it as X-Drive till i figure it out. But i kinda started liking the name and i stuck with it.:evil:

I have another couple X-Drive's that Ive been working on.

-The left One is the same one in the OP at 16.65mm L - 12.79mm W.
-The Middle is at 17.82mm L - 10.21 W and has the same features as the Original one on the left.
-The Right one is the baby X-Drive at 15.25mm L - 10.10mm W and is not pot adj to allow for a smaller size board.

The baby one can fit inside an Axiz module with a different style inductor and the middle one can aswell with a different style inductor but its a tight fit for that one.

Both of them fit no problem connected to a diode with just the upper half of the module then pushed into the heatsink like we normally do.

Those are still in testing but the one in the OP will be available soon.

I was going to say a toaster over, but I'm not sure how you would do a two sided board that way?
 
Nice work.... If you have a driver that runs on 1- 18650 I know a good home for it lol... Im building a 12x kryton.

Sorry buddy Not 1 cell driver. Its a 2x cells driver or up to 15V.:wave:

Honestly i wasn't even looking to build a 1 cell driver. With the 445nm diode and it getting pushed pretty hard the builds are usually in larger host that can take 2 cells etc. Just about any 18650 host can take 2x 16340 or 2x 3.0v Lifepo4 cells aswell. Sure you dont get as Long of a Run time when you are using 2x 16340 vs 1x 18650 for example but who really cares.

Most of my build are 2 cell builds so i wanted to make something to use for them that was much nicer. :)


Bigger Host means Bigger heatsink to keep your diode cool at Higher powers. Which is what iam conerned more about.

I designed this driver for Higher power builds. Most people have to spend ~$50 to drive a 445nmlaser at 1.8A with 1 cell. The X-Drive will be at ~1/3 of that price. I think 1 cell builds are good for lower power laser in smaller host. But thats Just my opinion.

Jib77 helped me out big time with this. I use a toaster oven.:D Its very simple. You do one side at a time. When your doing the second side the parts get held in place by the solder. They dont drop off.;)

Thanks.:) I like 2 cell builds more so this is why i designed this driver. You can always use 2x 16340 in the Kryton.:whistle:
 
Just out of curiousity, on the baby drives are you able to move LD + and - further apart and place the cap in between them, and perhaps squeezing in a pot then or is there some traces on the underside that can't easily be moved?
 
i have also been testing this driver, and in fact it has been very helpful in the development of a new SL product that I hope to announce soon. :)

The "small" baby one is the Smallest it can get. Jib77 helped me alot with the layout to get it as small as it is.:)

Adding a Pot will bring you up to the board size that is in the middle which still can fit in an Aixiz Module but its a tight fit.
