Windows 7 os

Absolutely ANYONE who doesnt like Windows 7 is doing something wrong.

ROTFL

Well, then anyone have heavy industrial machines and CNC centers are doing it wrong, cause til now i've found no one of them able to get a copy of win7 working at 100% without bugs or problems with their machines ..... and all the ones i know that have specifically ordered PCs for this purpose mounting natively win7 (from suggestion of friends incensing win7 :p), come after few months on my shop asking me to sell them an XP and to configure the machine with it :p

Other than this, all the peoples that have buyed PCs or laptops in my shop, with vista or win7, have kept them only if they use the PCs only for play and surf internet, but all the ones that need the PC for work seriously, ask me to have it with XP.

It may mean something, after all ..... :D

This is 110% true, Some of our software will work with vista but none works with 7. We just had to replace a laptop and I had to "upgrade" it from vista to XP to be able to run the program transfer software we need.

I use XP64 on my office and home computer because I have programs that actually use the extra memory both computers have. I don't have any problem at all with XP64, but trying to add hardware or anything is a PITA, it is an "orphan" OS for sure.

I believe a license from 32bit XP pro will work on XP64 in case you can't find a copy.

Thanks for all your ideas guys, but they mostly seem illegal. We don't want any trouble, so I guess we'll just have to buy one............ Thanks again all......... rob & kim

I very much recommend W7 over XP. Come on, it's a 10 year old OS, Windows 7 has been running flawlessly on my PC since the beta came out, it's faster and much more stable than XP. You can even download "Windows XP mode" from microsoft to emulate a XP environment in case some really ancient drivers (Yes, only really ancient drivers doesn't work flawlessly with W7) doesn't work. You can't even have DX10 or 11, or more than about 3-4GB RAM on XP (Don't even mention XP 64bit, that thing is a load of crap).

Owning XP now is like owning Windows 95 5 years ago.

On-topic: I have a W7 CD image, but it would take ages to upload or send it, sorry.

Hey Phoenix, do you have a copy of Windows 7 in general? The procedure for putting Windows 7 on a flash drive is very straight forward, and I did that for installing on these machines. You're not going to be able to install Windows 7 without a product key unless you go about some specialized OEM bios activation schemes. If you're going through that trouble, the forums dedicated to that would probably be a better source than LPF.

If you or your wife have a .edu email address you can probably get a copy of Windows 7 Professional for about $70 via Microsoft's student discount program. Sometimes they have sales where it's only $30 a license! It's an upgrade license, but installing and activating it as retail is easy with some workaround on the web.

phoenix77, pm me your address so I can send you a dvd with the win 7 ultimate( no upgrade, full installation ). You can keep the dvd then. You will have to patch win 7 after installation, using the files i will upload for you. I can send the copy later next week if you want. Like kiyoukan said, this way you are installing thems legally :P

Getting a copy is easy. The key is the trick. You can buy one of somebody, but they mostly always sell too many, or the people they sell to use it too many times. But you can buy a legit Key from Microsoft, but its not cheap.

If you need to make a bootable CD into a bootable USB flash drive, you can use a program called unetbootin. Here's the link: UNetbootin - Homepage and Downloads

You can use it to turn any install CD or ISO file into a bootable USB key.

If you need a copy of Win7 legally, the only one you can download a trial of is the Enterprise edition. I'm not sure, but I think when you install, you're given the option of which edition you want, so you should be able to use that ISO file to install Home Premium or Professional etc. You can either find a key or some hacked activator, or you can run it without a key for 90 days before you need to reinstall. Here's the link to download win7 enterprise direct from microsoft. You'll need a Hotmail or Windows Live account. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/cc442495.aspx

Otherwise, as someone mentioned above, ubuntu is completely and utterly free, and it's really quite usable. If you've never tried any version of linux before, I suggest you check it out.

To everyone who offered assistance, we really appreciated it. SilverShot is going to provide us with what we need, so no other aid is needed. THANKS TO ALL WHO OFFERED !!!!
@ Pseudolobster, I BOOKMARKED the site you gave me so that I can transfer my 3 re-boot disks for MY OS (VISTA), onto a flashdrive for convenience. Would you have an idea of how many gig flashdrive I'd need to hold all 3 re-boot disks ? Thanks, rob

DVD's are like 4.5gb, CD's are like 700mb. If the discs are full, it could take up to 13gb, or as little as 2gb if they're CDs.

I'm not sure how that'll work, trying to put all 3 onto one flash drive... I dunno, you may need 3 USB drives.

I guess I'll just leave the info. on the 3 disks that they're on. Thanks again for your help & knowledge............. rob/phoenix77

the disc image or actual CD is worth nothing, but the CD key or ability to have a fake/hacked CD key is where it's worth something.

I wonder if it's illigal to continously install windows 7 for the 30 day trial without a key and just keep re installing... 12 times a year, for the REST OF YOUR LIFE.

All you have to do is use any working code to install Win7. Then keep an eye on the Windows updates. There will be an update saying OS Key Checker, or something close to that. DO NOT DOWNLOAD that update.

Even if you do download that, the only thing I found is that it removes your wallpaper, and has a small tag on the taskbar saying its not a validated product. Thats it. My GF has been using hers for months now without problems.

TJ is right...

Avoid update "KB71033" ,
Windows Genuine Advantage checker.

True, in some way, and you can have yourself a a working OS, but depending on what OS, most updates require the Genuine Check, and wont install without it.

If a exploit is found, which happens all so much, and needs patching, your vulnerable. Hell the chances of someone hacking your computer knowing you cant update is very slim, but it could happen. Virus makers/keyloggers ect also include their own patch and inject methods and abuse this.

Ay, it might never happen, always good to updated but.
