Wicked Lasers Lunar and Inferno

It depends on a lot of factors (target reflectivity, laser power, weather condition etc) Mine was with a 233mW 405.

Yes it does, I think the unit mention was a 5mW 405nm unit :na:

That might explain why the dot becomes unnoticeable so quickly.

I've never noticed this, are our eyes not supposed to be able to focus on it? Never had a problem focusing on 405nm.

It's borderline visible light, our eyes aren't adapted to see that color. I'm not sure if this is something you can train but I think most people can't focus properly on it.

As djQUAN mentioned it gets worse with distance. To me it looks slightly blurred even up close. From a few meters it's hard to tell if the laser is even focused properly, because it "splashes" out. From a hundred meters it's blurred over a large radius and I can only see a violet tint on the area. That's with 80mW, might get better with more power.

I also happen to have high myopia and my glasses have color aberration, which makes the 405nm look completely "disconnected" from the rest of the world. Very, very weird.

Something like this ?

I wonder if WL will ever just up and offer empty S3 hosts. Hell, I would even buy one.

That would be a disaster, look at WL's target demographic. How many of them would try to build their own laser without the proper equipment? ;)

Sending an S3 to CNI for building a 589nm laser with it should be possible.

At least I got the note that it's possible the other way round.
I was about purchasing and sending them a 607nm module for putting into a PGL-III-C several months ago.

@ARG, yeah I guess that would pose a huge problem... I still wish they'd accept it as a request :(

But that is interesting to know about CNI. Maybe that'll be how I get a 607nm. S3 Tangerines anyone?

607 would be amazing in a handheld if I ever manage to afford one :(

For now my favorite wavelength(lasers I own) is 635nm. I love how it's both orange/red :p

Thought i post this in my thread....

Just got something in the mail from china... totally unexpected.

It's a letter from Wicked Lasers:

Dear Valued customer,

We are sending you this IR kit as an extra precaution to Ensure your krypton laser meets FDA safety requirements.

This is our way of making sure all of Krypton customers have the latest standard of safety.

We recognice the inconvenience the installation of the kit involves.
Due to this, Wicked Lasers wishes to show it's gratitude to it's loyal customer base by including a free enhanced lens kit for the inconvenience presented.

If you have any questions or require assistance with installation of this kit, please e-mail ''Wicked lasers e-mail address)

So it came with this letter and installation instructions with picture's included.

With this also came:
*A IR lens for Krypton
*A pair of tweezers
*Two part epoxy glue (wich is not needed as it's just a simple threaded cap with the IR filter placed inside it)
Epoxy is for between the threads to keep it in place, but not needed as you can just tighten it.

The weird thing is....Why ?

Where the kryptons not filtered from IR before ?
Never actually saw a review discussing this part ¿

In this very picture above you can see the purple-ish hue comming from the lens that was allready in the Krypton.

Next to the tweezers is the new spanner lock with the IR filter inside it that goes over the lens when you remove the old one.
There's tape ontop to prevent from dust getting in during transport wich you have to remove ofcourse ^^
Also recieved a free enhanced lens kit for the inconvenience. (wich is cool)

but why....... ?

Cheers, Sm.

Quick test i made..

635nm 500mW mit$u pushed to 1W
635nm 300mW mit$u pushed to 500mW (bit unfocused, but you get the idea)
635nm Wicked >750mW
650nm Skylasers 1W

I'm getting a new one sinds this one has the beam comming out more from the side rather then from the middle.
That's why it has a bit of a splash..
Working on that....
