Wicked Lasers 2010 130mW Evo Pro Series Review! Exclusive, in depth, and unbiased!

That's a big if, and cant be substantiated till someone does a review who actually bought their WL laser.

The reviews are great, and well done. It just seems the tone has changed quite a bit about WL.
Yes TJ, we can only review the units we get how we get them is to be considered, and Yes, I too have changed my view of the rest of the WL line with the new lasers offered. I also have had very good experiences with the company with many lasers I bought from WL, as compared to many I bought from LG, CNI & LED Shoppe, the last of these is the only one to replace the occasional out of spec laser quickly (almost as quickly as my experiences with WL), and I am used to a lower return % of out of spec units from WL than any other supplier I have dealings with. So, after buying dozens of lasers from these 4 companies, here's my ranking:

WL 6% out of spec, (oos) , replaced in about 4-8 days every time, (9 of a possible 10) Note: mostly Core lasers bought.

LED Shoppe 12% oos , replacesd in 12- 16 days every time, but one they sent 30 mW instead of a 50 mW replacement, (8 of a pos. 10)

LaserGlow (note includes units not warranted from "Cleaning sale")
16% oos, one units sent in for repair not fixed after 6 mo. (6 of 10 possible)

Edit: Actually to be fair to LaserGlow, of the units under warranty, I find a similar rate of out of spec to Wicked Lasers, I have a lot of slow answering of questions, and communication needs to be addressed, but the oos record is better when the regular LG offerings are all we count, sorry if it was less than fair to count the "Cleaning Sale items, some, perhaps many of which were never even offered for sale as LaserGlow items. In short (my bad!) I'll give LG a (7 out of a possible 10) and much of this being lower than a "9" is slowness in communication and straightening out problems.

CNI 26% oos note all oos units were PGL III's no oos pen lasers so far, replaced in 30 - 60 days. (4 of 10 possible)

So, to even my own surprise, after all the lasers I have handled, (thousands of $worth of CNI & LG, btw), I prefer to work with the top two here, not as much these days the bottom two, and I just may, begin using Optotronics and WL instead of LG and CNI for >200 mW green portables in particular. I have had too many problems from CNI in particular of late!

Also, my Spyder I Pro was clearly does not seem to likely was "A Cherry Picked unit" after all, it's doing 10% over the output spec, and these can clearly be higher output, as seen, when this model was reviewed by other forum folks. It would seem, that it was chosen as a passing spec unit, not a best of class, IMHO... -Glenn

oos - short for 'out of spec'...

Yes like jayrob said, oos is short for out of spec, these tend to be mode hopping, or under output promised, but one recently only worked a dozen times, then died completely, I have had very poor luck w/ PGL III's yet a good one is still a prized unit indeed! -Glenn

i still have to agree with T_J on this no matter how much i hate his trolling(which i havent seen that much of lately..thank god!). the only way to do a truly unbiased review is for a member to buy one without exposing their identity and then review it. steve could have hand picked those lasers to output more than usual which means it wouldnt be the members fault b/c their review was correct for the laser they received. my opinion of wicked stands as it was before and until someone does an anonymous review it will not change.

EDIT: nice write up for your unit spyder ;)

Just thought I'd throw my 2 cents in the pot; WL may be attempting to change their reputation but some people (such as myself) don't see it that way. As good as their current products are/seem, they still have not made an effort to absolve past issues. Lasersbee case for instance; he has offered to replace the "old" optical LPMs free of charge with a new updated one. WL has not compensated the people who they have ripped off in the past(I for one am one of them).

The bottom line is that you can't please everyone. Wicked has already changed their reputation through their marketing tactics, so the approval of each member here is irrelevant. Not everyone will agree with their tactics or their business practices, but they're sure not weak on their marketing skills. Only time will tell if they are truly sincere in their desire to change their rep..

I for one will buy a unit around May -thats the only time i actually could afford it
i will use pp its not under my name - so it should be a random unit I really like the executive pro 100 mw range so if I forget you guys remind me ok

Thanks for the positive comments!

You see, as far as I am concerned, this review is unbiased. It is not positive because I got a free laser, but because the laser itself is good quality. If I had to send it back, the review would still be the same. And, if you have the "mula" to shell out for this laser, I would say "go for it"!

Wicked lasers has really pulled up as I have seen lately.

One question though. How do we know they are not just sending good lasers to the reviewers? Lol first thing that hits my mind to be honest.

We don't, and I don't think any of the reviewers have tried to count out the possibility. Only time will answer that.

It wouldn't be to their best interest to spend all that time and money to
rebuild build their reputation... then send out underspec production lasers...

That would definitely bring the walls tumbling down....
