WOW- 1200 WATTS of 638 would be outta'site!
How many Amps are needed? Can it be portable? :)

Hemlock:

I dont know the amps needed but it is a single can diode so I would assume it would be portable but I dont know if this is a actual real diode or not just happen to find it cruzing around ebay

I hope this isn't the same 635nm laser diode that outputs two to three beams. It is around the same output and price. Techhood doesn't show the part of the spec sheet that shows divergence, though the rest that they do show is similar. I noticed they say is is a single beam, but in Chinglish, what does that mean? If someone buys one and tries it, I would be interested in the results.

I believe it's real, but the 1200W is obviously a typo. The HL63283HD has an output of 1200mW or 1.2W. I've heard of a big push for higher power 638nm diodes for projectors, so I assume we're going to see these keep popping up at higher powers. 1200mW isn't that unreasonable considering 700mW ratings have been around a while.

I think it's been mentioned here and on PL before. No idea where the datasheet is though.

Hey maybe it is a tiny little 1.2 kilowatt diode

That is a terrible deal for this diode. I have several of the P73 Mits and will just keep those. Glad this has already been tested.

I guess it would depend largely on the beam specs on this thing, which arent listed. If they are similar to the mitsubishi part probably not worth bothering with, but if better it would be interesting.
