This or That is a popular forum game in which a user asks the next poster to pick out of two choices. The next person who responds then posts a question of their own, and so on. Questions can range from very obvious ones to those life-changing dilemmas.

Please try to keep them related to light-emitting sources, although non-laser questions are OK as well. After all, it would make things a lot more interesting!

I'll start:

Would you rather have a 500 mW green laser or a 100 mW yellow one?

100mW yellow one.

Would you rather have a 457nm handheld, or the money you would have to spend on it?

100mw yellow easily over 500mw green. would rather have 2mw yellow than 500mw green, i value color more than power but thats just me.. really paranoid about protecting my eyes too lol

The money to spend on it

Would you rather have a 1W RGB projector with 40KPPS galvos? or a handheld 1W green?

The projector for sure.

Would you rather have a 2W single-mode 445nm chip (that you must place on a heatsink and carefully solder wires to) or a Nd:YVO4 crystal capable of 20W CW 532nm (that you would have to mount, align, and pump)?

The Nd:YVO4 for sure (and the doubler too, you said CW 532 :p )

Would you rather have a 1mJ Q-Switched 532nm, or a 1W CW 532nm?

(If you don't understand any of the terms used above, please check out the Introduction to DPSS Lasers available in my signature)

Ill take the CW

Would you rather have a 50mW argon ion laser or an 2mW orange HeNe?

2mw HeNE as I already have an argon of approx that power but no HeNes at all.

Would you rather any one CNI laser or one laser from rayfoss or olike each month for a year.

I'd pick the CNI option. Quality over quantity!

Would you rather have a 20 W CO2 laser or a 5 J ruby laser?

5J ruby laser for sure.

Would you rather have a misaligned 604nm HeNe or a 3W 457nm DPSS system with a dead pump?

Neither...

Would you rather have a good burning laser or a nonburner with a nice beam and dot?

non burner (facepalm)

angelina jolie (or any other woman you like lol.. cannot think of another one :p)
or
500mW (overdriving possibility >1W) direct diode ~473nm small chip (and single mode) capable of <0.9mRAD and input power <2W (1W of heat at 1W output) ? Lets say, 5.6mm

I love women...
But the woman would be a one time thing. This just shows how dorky I really am...I'd take the 473:D

5.6mm 2W single mode 635nM diode?
Or 5.6mm 200mW 589nM diode?
