The Trance thread

Ok guys, I have been listening to the track i attached to this post too often lately.. I always wondered if somebody could mix it and make it longer. It's just too awesome and I think if it was extended it would be much more cool! Just download the song it's 2mb. Milantheone, or anybody else, you think you could extend this godlike beat??

At school I used a program called PropellerHeads Reason, found here. You can do virtually anything with the program and while it might not be as easy to learn as some other programs, it has a huge user base and a quick youtube search will give you some very helpful tutorials. Some of the guys at work who make their own music were surprised that I was using this program as apparently it's what the "pros" use. How true that is, I'm not sure, but it's an amazing program.

reason and especially CUBASE are programs used with profesionals.. actually there is not such a difference between Fruity loops and those two named above, you can do really anything with hose programs, but recording labels are much more open for producers who use REASON or CUBASE.. they simply need you to use the software which they use..
lots of producers has to change their studios for a CUBASE because of recording labels..

all i can do for you is just "loop" it..

it would be really great if you have a "WAW" file of this song, as i will need to comprime it one more time to the MP3 for you and it lost lots of the quality..

hey man I added you on msn. Why don't you come so we can talk about it? :)

Thanks a lot mate. I am currently listening to the first set. Did you make it?
Yeah. All the mixes I post are mixed live in my studio in So Cal.

Just as Cubase and Fruity Loops can play vSTi's (virtual instuments), Reason is a great all-in-one sequencing program.
I used reason for about 10 years, and I still use it, It's very professional, easy to use and teaches you quite a bit, but I prefer to use Hardware Synths when working on music. :yh:

My friend gave me a pirated copy of Fruity Loops a long time ago. It was a good program but I ended up uninstalling it because it took up too much harddrive space. Not that Reason doesn't, but it was on the school mac's not my laptop.

The easiest sound making/editing program I ever used was Sony's Acid. It didn't have all the functionality of Fruity Loops or Reason, but it was soo easy to learn and you could put together a pretty decent song fast.

Ableton Live 8 is a really good techno creation program. You can try the demo, but it won't let you save anything.

is anybody going to electric daisy carnival, los angeles in june. if so hit me up. woot woot
and it is too hard to name a favorite song. but i am in to the new kascade album "dynasty" right now.

It's not trance but since this was the longest music thread LPF saw I figure I'll necro this.

I recently discovered the band Pretty Lights. They are so freakin awesome. It's not trance, somewhat techno but more drums as well as more electronics and more piano in a couple songs. Wikipedia says they are "an electronic music duo". I'll just list a couple of my favorite songs by them (two dudes). It's pretty much all sampling with Ableton Live 8. Reminds me somewhat of the Avalanches if anyone has heard of them.

1. Finally Moving (VIP Remix): Grooveshark - Listen to Free Music Online - Internet Radio - Free MP3 Streaming
I can only find this song on Grooveshark and I have no idea who remixed it or who the guy singing is.

All the rest are on Youtube.

2. Fly Away Another Day: YouTube - ‪Pretty Lights - Fly Away Another Day‬‎

3. Hot Like Sauce: YouTube - ‪Pretty Lights - Hot Like Sauce‬‎

4. More Important than Michael Jordan: YouTube - ‪Pretty Lights - More Important Than Michael Jordan‬‎

5. Keep em Bouncin: YouTube - ‪Pretty Lights - Keep Em Bouncin‬‎

6. Aimin at Your Head: YouTube - ‪Pretty Lights- Aimin' At Your Head‬‎

7. Electro Cali: YouTube - ‪Pretty Lights - Electro Cali‬‎

8. More Important than Michael Jordan: YouTube - ‪Pretty Lights - More Important Than Michael Jordan‬‎

This music is so nice. I encourage everyone to listen to more than one song, as well as the entire songs all the way through. Some are so different from others they don't even sound like they are from the same genre, much less the same band.

Since I compared them to The Avalanches I might as well put a couple of their songs up.

1. Frontier Psychiatrist: YouTube - ‪The Avalanches - Frontier Psychiatrist (Good Quality)‬‎
This song has a weird video.

2. Since I Left You: YouTube - ‪The Avalanches - Since I Left You‬‎
This song also has a weird video.
