Update: 337 hours and counting!

LivinLoud, I don't pay for electricity, at least not for a few more months. :)

Anyone else have any guesses?

Electricity is cheap, especially for that half-watt you're using. 337 hours only costs 2 cents according to my calculations.

My guess: your wall pack dies before the diode does.

I meant to post last week when you first posted but forgot. Anyway my guess is out. I was going to give it less than 20 hours.
A few years ago I had an 8 led flashlight with a red laser in the middle one night I left it on and it was dead the next morning. I took it apart and it had one of those modules in it.

This is the light BTW

My guesstimate is 8765 hours and 48 minutes and 46 seconds. Keep us updated on this.

I'd like to see this done with more types of diodes. Stick a 405, SM 450, 520, and etc in a similar setup.

As for a guess... Since nobody else said this, I feel obligated to. >9000 :D

didn't styro have a similar setup going for years?

He did, but he was using a "nicer" diode. When you break it down this diode was like $0.30 shipped!

Atomicrox went high at 10K hours!

UPDATE: Just so we are all clear this project is being taken very seriously. To the extent that I found a guard and full time laser watching specialist:

My specialist has informed me that we are at 1555 hours already!

How often do you guys think I should update?

Major hour marks. 1000hrs, 2000hrs, 4000hrs, 8000hrs. Just keep doubling it and then tell us when it dies.

Jesus! Is your cat already blind? I can't believe I am seeing this. Put a piece of tape or something over it so your specialist doesn't loose his/her sight. lol :spank:

Is there a prize for entering this contest??:D
