HHmmmmm....well....yes....The bounce leg is 13mm....so....by switching the Dichro from Reflect Green/Pass Blue....to Reflect Blue/Pass green....we would effectively add 13mm propagation length to the Blue beam....and subtract 13mm from the Green beam.
Yes...the greater the separation distance between the Correction set to the LD....we do gain some reduction of divergence in the Far field ( but increase the geometry at the Near field);
And yes...the uncorrected Far field geometry of the Blue NUBM07E is greater than the uncorrected Far field geometry of the Green NUBM01T.
But....but....what I observe and measure seems to suggest this does not matter. In measuring the Far field ( at 6.7M )...of both LD's...I see no difference between the beam width.....so...that is interesting !
I speculate that at a further Far field, we would likely start to see a difference. But, this returns to the discussion...what is a practical
maximum Far field distance we are to be concerned with ???
For the HH or Projector...15M ? 20M ? 25M ? 30M ??? At what distance do we say......" Who cares !! "
The Laws of Optics " continue to rule to infinity....but...alas....I can only see so far with discretion...and parallax view compensates for the rest !!
However........
The Laws of Optics will eventually rule and show that to lengthen the prop. path of the Blue....preferentially over the Green will deliver a better parity (for a great Far field distance) for the metric of divergence geometry. Knowing that....even though I see no practical value....will push me to switch over to Reflect Blue/Pass Green Dichro at this stage of the build !!
I am just
too much of a perfectionist to ignore this optical reality....so....it is very likely I will make the switch !!
Delays, delays !!! The Gods of Optics are a demanding lot !! Thanks for pointing that fact out Jors !! Yes....more lovely Cyan !!!
Beam out
You've done it! Nice color! thanks for share.
We know the farther we located Cyls from diode, the more expansion we get and vice versa.
This is due beam divergence, so effect is higher with low EFL aspheric collimators.
If you are trying to aprox match blue and green divergences:
-Blue 07E needs more expansion than green at a given divergence, so beampath to cyls should be longer then green beampath.. IMHO blue should be situated on the longest beampath..,ie on the right in your setup...instead green (bounce mirror to dichro). This way you could have more similar divergence on both diodes...better FF spot overlap at several distances....more lovely cyan!
