These aren't hosts. These are pieces of art.

I picked out these hosts, sight unseen, and asked Ray to tackle heatsinks for them if possible. I really didn't expect him to be able to make all three flashlights work as potential laser hosts. Not knowing what any of them looked like internally ahead of time, I sort of anticipated that one or maybe two would be doable.

Ray found a way to make all three into beautiful (and ingeniously designed) laser hosts. At least one of them required such a complicated heatsink design that I'm still not entirely sure how Ray figured out the dimensions.

Ray also added a brilliant polish that really "made" them what they are.

With no further delay, I present you with what I'm calling my "Irresponsible Build Trio". The name comes from that absolutely unwise current each laser is set to. In each case, I'm using a custom DIY 1085 based DDL driver. Currents are set to:

445nm - 1,882 mA
405nm - 625 mA
650nm - 580 mA

That's all I'm going to say about the builds though, because this is really about Ray's hosts. They are phenomenal!

Nice. Do you know what the 650 is producing?
Get a 650-G-1 for it, too. ;)

Basically a tad over 325mW raw optical output. It's an LPC-826, which to be honest, I'm less impressed with compared to traditional LOCs.

Thanks! But I can only take 50% credit :)

And these guys are staying in my personal collection. Not selling them any time soon! I love them :)

The small (red) is using 2x CR123s and some generic DDL capable IC (can't remember if I used 1085 or 317)

The larger two (405 and 445) are using 1085 ICs heatsinked to the main hs, and running from 2x 18350 AW IMR lithium ions.

Very cool rhd. I like that you are thinking outside the box with these uncommon drivers. :)

yeh, man rhd u make some awesome things!

i will rep u again when i can

You should really +Rep Ray on this one. He made these hosts into beautiful lasers. I just soldered together drivers, and stuck laser diodes inside ;)

Man, not to long ago I discussing with Moh about the silver host with the assault crown about a heatsink. Looks like you beat me to the punch. :(

You're always welcome to reproduce anything I've built here :)
