So yesterday i was at a friends house when his wife told me that her tarantula was molting. (shedding old skin) so i took some pix. i missed the very first moments but i captured most of it in 165 shots.
here is a few of the process. the whole thing only took about 40 mins.

my camera almost died while i was doing it, i was out the night before watching & lighting fireworks all night for ("pioneer day" Utah's B-day). i almost thought i wasn't going to be able to finish before it died.
luckily it didnt and i got a lot of good shots.
Most are in Hi-Res.

My Favorite shot

That's kind of gross! But I would imagine that if you're into spiders it's probably pretty awesome.. The photography is good, though. Love the pic of the fangs.

Awesome! What camera did you use to shoot the pics?

i just use a cannon powershot.. i got it on sale for 180$ a while ago.
nothing fancy

exact same camera as in the picture above, except mine is all scratched up on that silver ring.
about 95% of the pictures were taken in macro on manual settings

Cool! I imagine getting its legs out must be like a one-handed no-toothed man taking off a glove.

We had LargeMarge(29 grams) for 12 years(RIP) --every time she shed we carefully removed the old skin and placed i tnto another glass case. In time there were dozens in there- looked VERY creepy and we always brought it to the annual Holloween Party- the old sheds are as fragile as buttrerfly wings so in time they fell apart.-Red legged Mexicans are way cool.--Hak-- :-]

I have some cool pets starting with my 2 dogs one akita and one pitbull then i have two ferrets , two rose hair tarantulas one mexican red knee 2 sun spiders one 3 foot american alligator , a cotton mouth aka copper head (venomous),
and rhino viper (highly venomous) , a breeding pair of tangerine morph bearded dragons,
i just sold more than 100 baby bearded dragons, and for anyone thats thinks i dont have all of these pets youtube me VEDDIESEL lol you'll see!!!!

Yeah, that is an awesome process. I had one years ago, and the 1st time he molted, I thought he was dying. The next morning, it looked like I had two. He did it 3 more times before he gave it up.

How do I know it was a "he"? After the last molt, a male develops hooks on his front legs. They're so he can hold the female to keep her from killing him during mating.

Nature is a wonderous and varied thing on our blue ball, eh?

Hey, Marine - Nice collection! The only other exotic I had was an iguana (not counting birds).

Hey DieselM. Way cool critters-one question tho- about '(Venomous) Cottonmouth aka Copperhead' since thay are two differant pitvipers and your pix shows a 'cottonmouth-aka 'watermoccosin' which is it?-- or is 'copperhead' the snakes name?? also are gators legal in NY?? regards- Hak(former Evergaldes Wonder Gardens zookeeper)good luck and be careful Bro.

How much for a baby bearded dragon? Ever since I found this huge female red ear slider in the middle of the road I have been encouraged to get all of the animals I always wanted. I'm in the same state as you

I love bearded dragons! I had one a few years ago but eventually we gave it away. They are just so cool looking although the one I had wasnt very active. He molted every so often.

OK lol i know i difference between the two snakes my Cottonmouth is named Copperhead my lil brother named him because of the copperish coloring on his head i use to own way more venomous animals but being in the Marines now doesn't allow me the time to care for all of them well
So i had to decrease my collection i have a rhyno viper right now he is 4 feet long he is amazing the coloring and the patterns are remarkable oranges lime green little bits of purple.
As for the gator i rescued him from near death. a bunch of idiots bought him as a baby thinking it was cool to own a alligator and it started to grow and they were to scared of it and they never even cleaned the water once for a whole year so my friend told me about it so i decided to rescue him i did this before two other times one of my boys runs a gator park in florida and when they simply get to big for me to handle i drive the gator to florida and release him is the gator park to big is around 3-4 feet
