Avoid WL? Looks like your Spyder died. So, why would you want to buy from them again?

My thoughts are that there is already a thread about this. Use the search.

Whoops, I searched "Sith" while I was thinking "Krypton".

Spyder 3 Krypton - 1W of green power from WL

Hey guys, so if you knew or if not Wicked Lasers is planning on getting a new laser pointer to the market. it will be from the legendary Spyder 3 series wich the latest in it is the arctic spyder III: blue.

So now they are going to put out the new laser burner in this series:

Spyder 3 Krypton!

It's green, very similler to the Arctic but includes mor features and it's green!
It has 9 modes while the Arctic has just 4, and one of them is a hybernation mode where the moment you hit it it turns on, unlike the stupid smart swich.

on their Facebook page you will find a video:
Videos Posted by Wicked Lasers: The official S3 Krypton video | Facebook

It will come out in the next month or so, prices unknown (but you can guess in the comments ;) )

Might be for sale next month....but when will they ship it? Next month also or perhaps somewhere in 2012...And after that will it be just as on-spec as the 1W arctic...coughs..700mW..cough....

Forgot to mention 1W green....no.....just no....

They're retarded for calling it "Krypton."

Anyone who believes the 1W spec is just as retarded.

You think it will reach 700mW? In what messed up transverse mode?

Not only will it be in some messed up transverse mode but what about battery life? All Spyder models they ever made were 1 cell hosts. I just dont see it happening. Oh and not to mention price...

Just my 2 cents

Re: Spyder 3 Krypton - 1W of green power from WL

Forgot about that. No way a single 18650 can drive that pump diode properly.

So, if you allow copious IR to escape and have the laser running in some absolutely horrendous transverse mode, I could see WL being able to reach ~550-600mW. Nothing more.

Maybe 350-400mW of actual 532nm.

I doubt it will be anything near 400mW of 532nm, probably just another marketing scheme...
