Got my diode today. Put it in an 18650 jayrob kit with a pressfit copper heatsink. I'm gonna run it with dual flex drives at 2.3 amps with an AW 2900mah battery. lol wish me luck!

Wow hold on there pardna. As much as I would like to sell you a new diode 2.3A is above shutdown. The most I would run an extremely efficient diode is 1850mW and that is high. The only one I ran that high gave me 2.1W. Here is what happens when you go higher.

I would love to see how you're fitting dual flexdrives into an 18650. Can you post a pic or two please?? I barrrrely squeezed dual flexdrives into a Solarforce L2P today with the same cube-copper heatsink you're using & this host has much more room than the 18650. Please don't take me wrong, I'm not calling shenanigans... I'm just impressed & would love to see how you did this

DTR, I can't really tell exactly what was going on in the video there. Was it just shutting off when you ran it with too much power? I have a different diode (a130) running at 2 amps and it seems fine.

Danefex, I will post some pics when its complete. I'm really behind in calculus right now so it probably wont be until the weekend. I had the pill drilled out, and all I do is thermal epoxy them both together then to the side of host/pill.

But I really wanna run it at 2.3 amps ....

It actually seems to loose power after 1.9A and around 2.16A it completely shuts down.

That is a diode that I sold CD520 that he was running with a flex drive maxed which is around 1.5A +/- 50mA and was giving him 1.77W. It was a very efficient diode.

I understand & look forward to it. I've considered a dual flex 18650 build before but thought the host would never fit both heatsink'd drivers. I'll pm some pics of what I've squeezed into the Solarforce heatsink if you're interested and once I find where the damn camera walked off too this evening. On second thought I'll wait until that calculus is out of the way, good luck :takeit:

So by shut down you mean it didn't pop/die/break? Just shut off?

It shut off and I quickly turned down the power and it came back to life. :wtf:

But I would assume if you leave it in this state for any period of time it would die. It is just turning 2.1A of current directly into heat and I am sure the diode would eventually fry itself. I would think any other diode would go poof. These are tough little diodes.

I actually was using this diode because I had burnt the diode window and thought it was never going to come back but after this video I decanned it and it was back to a normal unit.:eg:

Got my diode today too. I didn't open the packaging yet but it looked nice and safe the way you packed it. I need to swing by rat shack tomorrow after work and get some 1N5404s and a 1 ohm 10W resistor so I don't fry my current test load.

Good luck to your builds everyone, listen to DTR, getting 1.8A out of a diode is amazing compared to what used to be amazing for diodes, don't fry $50 listen to the man, him know what him doing!
