Re: Laserprojector group buy # 4

OK, not sure what you mean by the 2 channels for the effect wheel comment. Wouldn't that allow me to do whatever the progam I use allows and not just to control the wheel? This would not allow me to control everything according to the software?

What I mean by terminator is installing the DMX terminator plug in the output of the last projector. Since I only have one projector, I don't think I need it. It's this:

Amazon.com: Dmx Terminator: Musical Instruments

So, with one PD2 I would be using channels 1-19. IF that DMX interface works then whatever programs it will work with are the limiting factors on what I can do correct?
Kind of assuming you bought the expensive one because you knew it would work with the program you wanted to use.

Len, let me know if you want us to move this discussion to PMs:)

Thanks dan2 for trying to explain this out. Your statement "The biggest issue I found was finding software that I could understand as a novice but i'm using DMX a lot more than the two channels you will need for the effect wheel" seems to be part of the key here along with why QS is a big deal because it isn't that difficult to understand. From what I've seen most of the software out there doesn't explain things well and kind of just expects you to know what to do.

Pete

You have two different DMX options. You can run the laser in DMX mode which is 19 channels or you can run it using ILDA and DMX. If you do this you will have two channels so you can use the effects wheel and run Quickshow.

What I mean by terminator is installing the DMX terminator plug in the output of the last projector. Since I only have one projector, I don't think I need it. It's this:

Amazon.com: Dmx Terminator: Musical Instruments
I never use terminator and don't have any issues

So, with one PD2 I would be using channels 1-19. IF that DMX interface works then whatever programs it will work with are the limiting factors on what I can do correct?
All programs and DMX interfaces will let you use all the channels/features. Its just finding one that you are comfortable to use. The main problem is finding software that is easy to understand. Getting that one from ebay will mean you have plenty of options to use different software.

Hope it is starting to make sense now. The key question is will you be using the laser in DMX mode only or quickshow with DMX? Either way that controller you linked will work :)

Happy to take to PM if needed. I just hope others who want to know about DMX might benefit from this

Re: Laserprojector group buy # 4

I think I need an explanation of running both ILDA and DMX.
I didn't realize you could hook up both at the same time. So here's the next group of questions:
-Do you know what exactly happens when you hook up both the ILDA (QS) and DMX with controller? For instance, are you operating both the software and the controller at the same time or are you using the controller to select if it is controlling or the QS is controlling?
-Assuming you can't somehow use that USB DMX interface at the same time as ILDA (QS).
The DMX controller is a stand alone unit and just requires the DMX cable to connect it (a true DMX cable and not a mic cable).

I wonder why QS doesn't have a way to use the effects wheel unless it's because no other projector has something like that. Wonder why there appears to be no way to control the effects wheel with ILDA... I would love to find out I just didn't know how to make QS do it and it's simple;)
The bottom line is I am trying to figure out my options.

Basically if you have a DMX channel set without using ILDA then it will use all 19 channels. If you are using ILDA then it will run 2 channels. When it runs in 2 channel mode it allows you to select which effect wheel on channel 1 and then allows you to set if the effect spins and how fast/slow it spins. You can use ILDA and DMX at the same time

I wonder why QS doesn't have a way to use the effects wheel unless it's because no other projector has something like that.

I'm not sure why but I haven't seen many lasers with an effects wheel. ILDA is just a protocol to control what the beams and mirrors do so couldn't control the effects wheel. The only other option is using DMX.

Re: Laserprojector group buy # 4

Wonder what the least expensive DMX controller I would need would be to fully control it. Would just need to add a real DMX cable as mine are all mic ones.
I know you can buy some seriously expensive controllers but the truth is that even the one I mentioned is way more than enough. It's about how easy it is to use and the easier the more expensive (or generally I would think that's how it probably works like most things).

Wait a second, I just read what you wrote over again and all you seem to need for DMX is the simplest controller you could probably get if you are going to use it at the same time as the ILDA because it will only select the effect wheel and how fast/slow. Think I understand now.
I wonder where I can get a super simple one like that just to try it out. Got to figure out how small a channel number DMX is offered in.

Mucho thanko againo,

Peto

Re: Laserprojector group buy # 4

Yes- QS can help you control using DMX many get these-- Enntex IIRC- the 'Pro' seems to be the fav. you can also upgrade from QS to BEYOND and with that you can do a lot with the Akai APC 40 ( 100 to 200$) as Pangolin has a free nterface free to use with the APC40- I have one that still in the box waiting for my to tryit out.*************************

update

A new LK projector has just been added to this GB- its an upgraded LK SD- from 850mW now upped to ~1.5 W still TTL thos otherwaise the same- IIRC 20 or 25K scanners and the red is 638nm now in ALL LKs- prri ce on this one with DHL express free- $660-- Personally I dont see me using the SD cards all that much- especially if you own show soft- & we can't load audio files on it so...

Linna is getting antsy- she is a sales lady and making sales is her job- we did 3 Gbs pretty quick and i told her that many may not be ready for another- BUT with the Holidays coming you never know- if our GB list fails to grow I will be combining all but the two >1W PJs into one GB- we still need ten buyers so far IIRC we are half way there-- we only need 2 or 3 more for the two >1W including the full color 30K LKRGB5 at $1248- with free shippoing travel case and 10 meter ILDA cable- I can do a bundle deal for an add-on of QS FB3 at $498 plus 10$ lowest USA dealers price (AixiZ)

GOT $248?????????? buy the LK 3D- use it for 30 days- not happy I will buy it back for full purchase price if still in same condition- its a cool mini RGB PJ that sure to please the whole family-- nice item to find under the tree!!& it is both standalone and wireless RC controlled as well as DMX -its sweet piece of kit!

Re: Laserprojector group buy # 4

Enntex IIRC is USB. More interested in a DMX control board itself so no computer necessary. Want to mess with one and see what it's all about:)
I found a lighting supply place only 15 minutes from me that I am going to check out this morning.

USER Manual for the $248 LK-3D a super first PJ that you will use forever - never broing and does all kinds of nice mesmerizing patterns-
I just gave T-Mack Tony his tracking number- so he can try out mine while waiting for his-
I have shown this little PJ to many but afaik I am the only forum member to have purchased one- so Tony will give us his review in about a week-

I had hopes the the wanters list by now would be longer- I will have to combine all the TTL projectors into a single GB if this does not change- I just know , however that some wil want in after it is too late- do not count on my doing another GB before Xmas- for LKs or even after the holidays= we need just 2 or 3 more to fill the FULL COLOR analog 1.4W RGB a baragin at $1248- see the OP for details on this one!!

Re: Laserprojector group buy # 4

Can't wait. Ill have the review posted same day at it arrives.

Thanks so much Hak !

From a guy that is strictly a handheld owner, I'd love to give my point of view on the projector and its capabilities.

So where do I put he batteries???!!!!! ;)

Re: Laserprojector group buy # 4

Whoa wait 30 day money back!? Gotta think this over

Re: Laserprojector group buy # 4

That was FAST Tony-- thanks- adding wendylou and lonepine-

As the three lists are not growing as fast s i had hoped- I may end this a few days after I get the three more needed to by the big boy-- LKRGB5 - so when that happens I will cal for the payments- addresses and phone numbers for DHL Express-- it takes LinnaLin a day to test all of these- and I dont know how long the upgrade to full color analog mod will take but that will have no bearing on the TTL Projectors-
I heard back last nite froma REKE 500 owner who was tempted to join our GB but was not thrilled with his Reke nor was the wifey and children - I can understand this as I dont use my REKE much either except when using beyond and my LKs-- as a stand alone PJ the REKE is sorry. - The dip switches are hard to deal with and in any of the REKE modes you will see very quickly something you saw not long ago-

The LK 3D has two auto modes a fast and a slow- I timed the images in the fast mode and the repeat was hard to find but I did and it was nearly 7 minutes - AND as its all abstarcts moving and NO anaimations- you dont notice the repeating- The LK 3D is the first PJ of its type that most will uses every time = I would like to see a set-up with a dozen of them audience scanning or on the dance floor- they look good on the ceilings, the walls
or on a corners where you hit all three-

What this means IMO- it will never be seen as a waste of $$ to have one or more of these- they do well with sound response and you can choose 9 levels of sensitivity- with the wireless RC you can isolate 49 patterns and six color choices- it has 'pause' so you can freeze frame any image..

I metered the center white dot that looked like it should be the max power and saw 49mW- but as it ONLY will (or should) stop when 'pause' is pressed and as people are NOT static I really do not think this little PJ is over the MPE.

Feel free to dwnld the manual i linked and check out how many pages LK devotes to safe use. The most I have ever seen with any other Chi-Jector was about one page. LK even weant as far as to send a plug with each PJ that you can use to make your own E-Stop- there is a jack on the back to plug it in--- HOWEVER --while it does work- its NOT wired up correctly- as if it WERE then when the plug is removed the laser SHOULD shut down-
and these LKs run fine with that plug not being used- I told LK about this and they may make the needed changes- BUT a proper E-Stop will kill the PJ if it gets accidently pulled AND if the E-stop switch is pressed.

The LK 3D has DMX control as well as the rc and the LED screen and its buttons. being lit up means if needed the Operator could use those buttons in the dark you can forget doing that with dip switches.

Vids made with the Lk 3D are not as nearly as sharp/bright as the real thing and the cameras add to the flicker --

So my offer is still good- buy a LK 3D- drive it for a few weeks and if you are not impressed mail it to me and i will give you back your purchase price-

I even thought about going as far as promising any 'laser-haters' in your life would change their attitudes but i can promise that-
But I will say no other 'light' on your Xmas tree will look as kewll..

AND has you have NO option of buying lasershow soft to us your PC for control you will not have that angst-- the REKE was super boring until i got soft ware and a DAC..

I have in stock I-Show for 79$ plus ship- last one- I have FB3 with free Quick Show anytime- and can get you the other version with advanced notice-- IIRC the top of the line is $5000- so paying $500 for Fb3 & QD does not seem so expensive- I can get you LSX as well-

Most banks charge between 30$ & 40$ for bank transfer
I send ALL ours in one transfer so each pays a share.
You can send me a personal check *we wait while it clears
Or a bank check or for same as acash and SAFER tha PooP Pal
spend $1.99 and buy a USPS MO-- banks treat like cash- no waiting
Commit fraud w/a MO and the feds will be after your ass. what does PP do??_ nothing if your 'buy' is NOT from EEKbay.

Delivery normally happens in 72 hours or less.

AND out of more than 100 packages we have NEVER had one opened or inspected - IMHO thats why I like DHL- the crazy fast delivery is just the icing.

we get VIP treatment as a group - and so far excellent customer service.

WE are expected to post a review at the forum for thousands to read- and this only helps us get even better products and service.

I kept track of the REKEs And roughy 90% arrived needing some kind of work- a few were not aligned- we found loose screws-wires - non functioning drivers- and show cards- and They told me they NEVER test then before shipping- so for REKEs from LM-YL Dino Direct or Laerpointerworld do NO QC- why should they?? you pay shipping both ways for repairs-
AND they know only a fool would do that and they will opt to fix themselves-

So-- lets wrap this GB up and send in the order--

will I do a GB #5?? right now i dont think so- that will depend upon how many missed out on #4-- you do NOT have to take my word on any of this- find my past GBs and PM anybody you want.. I welcome that--

One LPF member has more faith in me than most as he has sent me CASH in the mail!! So I dont do Pal coz I dont have to..
Feel free to get a middle man-- no risk that way. but you wil pay more for shipping (two times)

If you have never been to the pangolin site and forum go check it out- at the QS section you can dwnld a trial version-- the video tutorials are the best idea ever--- hak

Re: Laserprojector group buy # 4

That was fast. Thanks so much. The whole family is in love with it. It's absolutely amazing. So easy to get it going and select the exact manner I want it to behave. I can't rave about it enough and I can defiantly see the push to get these out to the members so they can experience what they can do. Thanks again for everything hak.

And for those who don't know mr hakzaw1. I put my complete trust in everything he offers, and will vouch for him 100% . Hak, you've officially broke through to this handheld user!!

Re: Laserprojector group buy # 4

I found #5 on the RC to be the most hypnotic pattern--

I proof read the LK 3D manual last night= the errors are minor ones- mispelling- wrong word etc- but all in all--LK did a great job on the manuals- and the first 12 pages are all about safety-- On the LED you will see 'REM' for remote control ( once you enter that you must press the power button on the RC) in the manual it as 'REN' and a few other grammer errors- like 'anticlockwise' instead of 'counterclockwise' no big deal ==

so guys ( and girls too) if you want advice from me- go for the Lk 3D or the LK Pd2
r the SD cards do less than I hoped (no audio) and the PD does ome stuff that even the show forum got excited about- they had a GB over there and IIRC four were purchased.
If you think you may NEVER want to get more creative and play along to the music get the cheaper Lk 3D- you will always has a use for it no matter how many more PJs you get or the software you get--

BTW I am fairly sure that NO full color PJs as nice as the LKRGB5 are cheaper from any other source- if they cost less its because you get less..

ESPECIALLY when you add in the free stuff and upgrades.

Re: Laserprojector group buy # 4

Haha that is funny hak. When I start it up number 5 is my go to pattern. It's been my favorite since I cycled through them.

What do I need for DMX ?? I saw pattern in the directions and they look much more interactive.

Re: Laserprojector group buy # 4

Thank you Wendy. I've been reading through the manual and the capabilities of the projector can really be better explored through with the DMX controls. Ill have to get the equipment soon. ( including the pc lol)
