Trolling is just the lure being dragged through the water in front of the fish.

It only becomes a problem if the fish bites it

It is a male Dolphin Fish. It is also known as Dorado and Mahi Mahi.

IMNHO one of the best tasting fish in the ocean.

When they fight the hook, they flash "neon" in a variety of colors and patterns. If taken on fairly light line, the also do a fair amount of very serious jumping and spinning.

Now that I have seen the video, I saw something on them on AP.

The only thing I ever caught in the Ocean is Dog Fish, Sea Bass and Salmon, tried for Halibut and never got one.

Been down that way, just not fishing.

Might have to do that some time! I work in California every once in awhile, usually LA or the Sacramento/ Bay area.
My boss is in Livermore. So I get stuck going to CA quite often.

To the OP: one way to view your experience here, is that you have wandered into a very large dark box. You stumble around and step on the toes of others who have been in the box a long time. Occasionally, you step on the wrong toes and learn which ones bite. ;-) After awhile you find others stumbling around and watch as they make a mistake. Now you have the advantage of gaining wisdom as you learn from their mistake. Every once in awhile you see one stumble hard and go up in flames............Don't stumble hard.
