Hey guys, I am sorry to inform you that our dear pal Rob (Phoenix77) got sick last night, and could not get any sleep, so he may not be here much if any today. Lets all wish him a quick recovery.

I just saw this thread and I'll give you some advice based on cases of fraud that I've delt with and been successful in getting the individuals prosecuted.

1. Don't try harrasment over the phone or in person.
2. You know the town/city, name and address, so contact the local police dept and file a report. Most cities have internet fraud departments and talk with the detective in charge.
3. When you file the report have all your documentation on hand (every email between both parties, and psotings from the forum where he's trying to sell your laser.) Include copies of any payments he has made as well. Get any pictures of the person that forum members copied from the persons facebook or other social networks.
4. Also file with at USPS with their mail fraud division (federal crime and also why I ship everything by USPS). With UPS, DHL or Fedex, the fraud is not a federal offense, but when USPS is involved it allow the feds and the FBI to get involved to track down and prosecute the persons responsible.

There is a good chance that once they look into it, they may find that you are not the only victim and it could be a bigger case than just one laser.
From what I've read in this thread, you have more than enough evidence to get this guy and have a moral obligation to do so that he won't do it to anyone else.
It won't hurt to let the detective and postal service know that you are handicapped, in fact it could help to raise the priority of case.
The people who do this kind of thing from inside the USA and through the USPS are very stupid and easily caught when they leave a trail to themselves and proof of the crime as this clown did.

Very logical and sound advice....

But Rob mimself will need to file those Fraud Reports with both
the local Police of Andrew Biddar and the USPS...
All the other info (photos... Myspace Facebook... etc)... that Rob
needs... except payment receipts and Laser Shipping Address
(which Rob already has) are on this Thread and I am sure copied
on a few member's computers...:cool:

Wow, after reading the 12 pages of this thread I am fairly certain this kid will get what he deserves. I'm debating whether to get involved by sending his dad a message on FB since his mom hasn't responded (and I'd include a link to this thread and inform him to read it in its entirety).

If that doesn't work, Rob can always call his neighbors. Sorry, good luck and feel better Rob.
 
Hello, all my dear friends, I just got up to P, & thought I'd check PM's. I'm STILL a bit woozy & am going back to sleep after I answer everything, but I MAY be back on-line later this PM, MAYBE :thinking: depends on how I feel physically. Mentally though, I feel great knowing I have so many GREAT PALS on the Forum pulling for me, in this fiasco & for me to get well. :yh: I'll send out a more personalized message later, addressing each of you who have posted since I went to bed last night :angel: But I CAN say right now that I shared the whole story about this last night with my wife (she didn't know about it, :whistle:), & I let her read all of the messages & see all the donations, & we both sat in bed & held each other & cried because of the wonderful friends that I have pulling for me in this, & all the donations that have been made, (I think the donations are saving my bacon for not telling her before):tsk: !!!! Well, back in the sack for me. I hope to make it back on-line tonight (if my stomach lets me) I THINK I picked up a bug somewhere, I just hope it's the 24hr. variety :scowl:. I believe you have the highest post/rep power ratio of all members here.

One does not earn that easily. I do not know you very close as a friend , but even a blind man can see what kind of great man you are.

If the help is coming to you, it means you've earned it.

I applaude to you for being the man you are, not everyone gets help when in trouble. If one does - he means a lot to the community which is helping him out.

Oh yeah, and one more thing. Make sure you let us know when the punk is nailed. That's kind of rolling around my head today...

I cannot help but think, what would I do if I were in your shoes .... then I switch to more bright topic to think about.

My regret, as with Ken, was that I am really unable to separate anything extra to help you out as directly as other members can. I can do as much as give you a morale boost when you are down, but it appears that others are doing far better job than me.

Just to let you know, you know? :wave:
