Review: Reke 500RGB (laserius projectorus-cheapus)

Re: Reke 500RGB

Guy --
I'm studying that and I see things like X+ and X- on the DB25. It looks like X- is ground along with all the other *- connections. I'm also looking for connectors for those 10 pin plugs. I may have to hard wire them.

HMike

Also -- Does the scanner ignore and block its internal drivers when ILDA is connected?

Yes. At least for mine. As soon as you plug the DB25 cable in, dac connected or not, animation/beam mode turns off

Re: Reke 500RGB

I have work to do ---
1. Get a project box from the RatShack to house the boards.
2. Wire them up.
3. Figure out the audio connection. 6 channel was not an option. How about 7.1 or whatever?
4. I can't find my old version of Spaghetti in my computers. I need a very simpleton version so I can get started. I'm way behind you guys on this and I'm not a computer geek.

HMike

PS: Those blocking caps going between the sound card and the DAC aren't shown on my old prints I found. If the circuit is high impedance, those caps might cause blurring of the edges due to RC time constants. Thoughts?

PPS: The pins labeled as X-, Y-, R- etc I believe are ground but they are isolated on the scanner. Am I right to presume that they are all jumppered to ground?

3. 5.1 Audio = 6 channels (5 speakers + sub woofer) 7.1 will work though.

Re: Reke 500RGB

Hello Guys,
My first post here

I just bought the ReKe 500-RGB as it appear to be a grat deal
SKU: A0879000JL

300mw 650nm Red 50mW 532nm Green 150mW 450nm Blue Laser RGB Full Color Animation Laser Light DJ Equipment Auto Sound DMX512 ILDA PC Master Slave Stage Laser Light Projector Reke-500RGB, Canada - DinoDirect.com

But i wonder if the other model that dinodirect are offering could be a better choice: the RGB-500 .. not the REKE 500-RGB

SKU: A0879000OM

It appear that the RGB-500 have 20K galvo and 300mW 445nm blue laser instead of 150mW... and the price difference is.. like 10$

Re: Reke 500RGB

Thank you for taking a picture of those for me! I think what I have may be a little different than your projector.

The Chinglish is pretty good on that last page, be sure you don't punch your laser lighting or look at it with a telescope!

Someone could make a killing translating Chinglish manuals if they could convince the Chinese it would help sales...

Chinglish:

My telescope is set up in the front window looking for the delivery man with my Reke 500! And if the screws are loose, I'm going to punch him in the head:crackup:

Re: Reke 500RGB

Anyone here who ordered to an EU country from Dino?
How do they make it with the customs and taxes?
Will the full and real value be declared on the package or do they put a lower one?

Re: Reke 500RGB

DAMNNNNNNNN!!!!!! 264.99 USD for 500mW RGB and 20K scan wtf :D that's NOTHING :)

Re: Reke 500RGB

Do I need to connect to the + or - side of the cap c1 through c6? It looks like everyone is using the isolation. Are they 1 mfd Caps ?
HMike

Is this a difficult question for this forum of young experts?

You need to connect the signal input (+) of your system to the solder points before the caps to the audio connectors. Take a look at this sound card wiring. The points I'm describing are on the lower side. The (-) goes to ground. I believe the ILDA signals are differential, so attaching (-) to the ground input will be sufficient. Do a continuity test to verify the GND on the scanner.

You may need to create your own signal amplifier, which is also detailed in that thread. I made one on a breadboard using some op-amps and pots.

RE 3 you should be able to use 7.1
RE 4 you can probably use your license file with the new ver of spaghetti, just download it from Gary's site.

Not sure about the caps... All I know is that the caps from my SC were removed.

I believe they all go to the same common ground pin.

Or just shine the laser at him through the telescope :p

You will probably have to pay some tax... I think they marked mine as $100 or something.

I would take the 20k claim with a grain of salt... In fact one site (may have been Reke themselves) that claimed that the 500RGB was a 20k projector...

However I can't see any reason not to order that projector if it's got the same qualities.

If someone gets it let me know.

It appear that the RGB-500 have 20K galvo and 300mW 445nm blue laser instead of 150mW... and the price difference is.. 4$ cheaper!!

Doc

I finally bought the second one, the SKU:A0879000OM
wich have 300mW 445nm blue laser instead of 150 and claim to have more than 20K scanners instead of 10K.. all that for 10$ more than the 500-RGB

300mw 650nm Red Laser & 80mw 532nm Green Laser & 300mw 450nm Blue/RGB Full Color Laser Light/DJ Equipment(Auto & Sound &DMX& ILDA PC)RGB-500

Just to remind you all: Dinodirect offer two different model:

The 500-RGB ( 20K+ Scanners + 445nm laser of 300mW) 268.99$ shipped
The RGB-500 ( 10K scanners + 445nm laser of 150mW) 271.58$ shipped

But the 500-RGB have no details and no review.. I mean i can not see the back panel and see if it is IDLA compatible etc...
and the only image i can get from Dinodirect are

laser-light-300mw-650nm-red-laser-80mw-532nm-green-laser-300-1414326-origin.jpg

I will review both 500-RGB and RGB-500 as soon as i receive them.. in probably two weeks ( i'm in Quebec, Canada)
