Review: 1xAAA 532nm Laser Pen

I didn't get this exact pen from them but the 4 I ordered are also rated 5mw.. If the results are similar I may not need to swap in the 50mw modules!

Got 3 more of these (great gifts :D)

Values:
49mW
65mW
94mW

WIthout IR blocking

532nm blocked (IR value) - ordered an IR filter with known transmission and IR blocking rate here

That's awesome, $9 for a 70mW laser. I don't understand why companies like Fasttech would advertise it is 5mW though...they'd still be able to sell it if it was advertised as 70mW, right?

My latest 2 were 81 and 84mw:)
2 more on the way

Pulled the laser out. Whole module with lens comes out together.

Comes with tape around brass

Tape removed and no I didn't mess with the pot...

Put heat shrink tubing on instead of the tape before putting back together.

Didn't know they came in emerald green metal flake did ya!

May do one in black when the others arrive.

*May want to add some support under opposite side of button switch while in host as I noticed that the spring starts to bend down towards the case with repeated use. If output drops some check this as it happened to one of mine (no damage though)*

Also, the pen is thin enough to slide inside another normal pen host if the button is removed. IF you mess with it in this mannor you may scratch the white paint so fair warning.
Think I'm going to do something with my white one as I have 2 more that will be here this week. Will post.

Ooh look, they do come in black too:)
Should have wiped off my fingerprints.... chrome isn't scratched and the black is very flat.
When I pulled out the module assembly from this one, the plastic tape was just around the board up to the switch (not around the brass). Added foam spring spacers to help keep the spring aligned on both of them.
