Reputation system: meaning & value

Don't know, most members last a few months to two years, in time, those with the highest reps will become inactive, so in a few years I expect the average amount of reps to go down again. We might hit a million before then though. IDK, maybe they will just keep climbing.

It depends if current community core with high reps "dies out" without increasing reps to newcomers (and active members with low reps) or become at least inactive for some longer period of time, stop giving out reps etc. I do not think this kind of "mass extinction" will happen at once more likely this process will be one-by-one and smooth, therefore inflation might be somehow slower (I do not think it will be significant), but still present at high rate, because of sufficient number of members with high scores giving high number of points and increasing scores of the others and so on. I assume the system will become unchanged.

Of course it depends on how rep is given and as the above is almost pure technical description, the social and psychology aspects (currently unknown) might play significant role.

I personally do not see any problem in high scores unless LPF reputation system does not get integer overflow. :D

And yes, I plan to stay here for some longer time, no intention to leave LPF anytime soon... :)

I wonder! :p I still think we will need scientific notation soon. :D

Glad to hear it.

Congrats Alex! It's pretty funny how the thread about rep inflation became the place you did it though. :D
