Power Meter Calibration and Comparison

Great idea google docs. However, I'm loogged in but I still can't edit. In the upper left (right of the menu) I see "View only"

Just to let everybody know that paying participants can contact Kenom, who is tracking and listing participants, and give him their e-mail address. He can then send an 'invite' to you. (must also have a Google account) This will allow you to be able to edit information in this Google form.
Good job rkcstr!
Jay

P.S. Anyone can view, and anybody who has been invited (for editing) can also invite others, but please only invite paying participants for editing. (I would think)

I should hope so... and maybe we want the looggies and droolies kept to read-only too? ;) ;D

Paid.

And I has lazors, too. I'm pretty sure anyone with a power meter, at this point, has a powerful laser. And with it requiring a cord, this thing isn't going to be much of a show-off piece (no offense kenom, I'm sure it will beautiful), and it won't be very easy to go out and start playing with. So I'm not too concerned about that.

If you PM me with your email address (that you log into Google with) I'll add you. Also, anyone already added can invite others to be a collaborator (person who can edit the spreadsheet) as well.

Also, you can put me down for Ohio as my "country" ;)

Don't tell me cleveland. Too many of you driver guys in Ohio.

Nope... Toledo  :)  About 100mi west of Cleveland. But I'm originally from PA, around Pittsburgh.

Ok so one issue that I would like to address in this is, over the course of time, the Kenometer's accuracy has been called into question. I'm not going to state that my meters are the bee's knee's but they are generally pretty accurate. As such, I currently do not have a calibrated Kenometer as my last one was sold to Comidt. I am in the process of building a replacement but ordinarily would use another Kenometer to set the calibration. I am however awaiting a Scientech that has been calibrated by Knimrod to his meters and should be able to use the kenometer plus the scientech to get a pretty accurate reading. However I'm not going to stake a claim that it's going to be all that accurate until I've tested a few of my lasers here and such. With that in mind, I'd like to ship these lasers to either psuedo or Senkat (who just recently got brand new coherents that are freshly calibrated) to verify the readings of the lasers before they get sent on down the line.

What do you all think?

So the best driver makers are in Ohio, and the most of the laser makers are all in California, plus Washington, Montana, and Europe.  Interesting.

Kenom: I had a roommate last summer during my internship in Boise, Idaho that was from Billings.  He was going to Montana State at the time (I think he should have graduated this year, I don't remember), but seemed to think Billings was a great town.  I'd love to go back and spend a lot more time in Idaho and Montana some day, I really loved that whole part of the country.

Sounds good to me!

Good call... Has Greg responded?

Didn't pullbangdead have access to a very accurate meter? And he's in California.

I hope it's very accurate. That's the idea, at least. I'm kind of surprised senkat hasn't at least responded to this idea, as well.

well, maybe... but it would perhaps be more accurate to say "the best drivers-for-sale makers" are in Oh! Hi!... oh." - 'cause I know at least a couple California builders* who make damn fine drivers, just not offered for sale to the masses... hmm... does that mean we're more stingy with our ideas? or more shy about pushing them? no, wait - we're Left Coasters, so we think everything should be given away? help! I'm afraid to make money!? (but man-ola, does I has lasers!)

I make good drivers too, just not small ones that fit in an AixiZ. My driver is a laboratory-grade continuously adjustable with potmeter and analog modulation. I even reverse engineered DX's driver from their lab red and green, and surprisingly they use the same design topology as I use (precision voltage-to-current converter) but mine is a lot more sophisticated (precision, slope limitation and heat-sinking) I could possibly build them for the masses, but building and searching for errors is a pain in the ass, and I don't think the demand will be high enough to be profitable.
