Looks interesting, but maybe pricey? I googled for it and can't seem to find it; maybe I'll have better luck finding a different one. I do like the idea of a nice bench unit though.

Well I just grabbed some pics for you from 8 feet away and while taking the pics I smelled something. Yup when I turned off the Laser and looked at the door, I burnt the door.

This dot looks much smaller in real life, I zoomed in on the closet door; both pictures are with the flash off, one has the room lights on and the other with the room lights off.

with the AixiZ Acrylic I'm getting a little better output @ 615mW with a darn perfect dot.

I think "a darn perfect bar" would be a better description.

Look at your photos, notice the beam shape in the air? It's a giant bar.
 
Well with the other lens it really looked like a bar to me much more so than this does.
 
Could you take a pic through safety goggles... :thinking:
It would be easier to see the bream profile...

It's a bar. A while back I showed that the "splash" caused by a 405-G-1 lens is nothing more than the magnification of what was already there*. Although I don't want to play with "acrylic" and thus I'm waiting on Jay & Aixiz' new 445nm glass, I am willing to bet it will be the same story... .











*A reminder what 405nm splash looks like. On the left, after Aixiz acrylic, on the right, 405-G-1 lens. Same splash, only mag-ni-fied... ;)

I finally found time to throw one together.
Flex V5@ 5.7V-fan cooled
Large fan cooled, finned heat-sink
950mA
896mW using stock lens (melted in under 1 minute)
Awesome light while it lasted although.
Brighter then my (true) 200mW 532nm.
Terrible beam splash, profile and artifacts.
Waiting on the 445 lens before doing any other testing.
 
I have a question about voltage......before I hook up the 445nm
I've set my FlexMod-N2 to 1.1A. The voltage is 10v. I'm using a normal 3-12v 1000mA wall adapter. I have the "selector" on 7.5v although when I connect a meter to the FlexMod output it reads 10v. If I put the "selector" on 6v then I can only get about 800mA...and voltage reads 8v on the Flexmod.

Is it safe for me to keep it on the 7.5v setting?

And fairly typical. All the numbers i've seen here and on PL show there was some definite binning going on between the a130 and a140's. a130 LD's consistantly come in ~1.3W@1.5A, while the a140 LD's have been at or close to 1.5W@1.5A.
 
I've done some quick tests with my a130 445nm laser.
1.037A -- 1.042W :D (boost drive set to max)
I'll measure some more mA vs mW once I get a better heatsink.
I also have an a140 I'll test once I get the heatsink.

Oh and I'm using the new 405 glass lenses from AixiZ which are coated for 445nm.
