PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please sub

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please

Yea, not tested, but I'm pretty sure they are from some opto company auction, especially considering they all popped up at once, and all seem to be in pretty good shape (no dents, big scratches, etc).

I call dibs on the melles griot huge red, but in return I offer my own find-an IR 1115nm HeNe. This is a SP-120-1 which is a 1-1.5mW IR laser, which are very rare, they're mid-sized external mirror tubes, and they are usually red. The seller wants only 100 bucks for it. They also have its matching exciter/PSU as well for 200 here.

(also, the 927 is a 35mW red, not a 50mW, though I wouldn't be surprised if it runs above 40 for a time if it's new and not been damaged. large lasers like that tend to be extremely fragile and position sensitive since the bore is so long just so people know. it runs at about 5KV with a <15-20K start at 8 mA)

yeah, the "50mW MAX" rating is just so the power is covered under the CDRH compliance. my Argon ion says max .5 Watts, but obviously does nowhere near that. more like 120-130mW tops depending on tube temperature. Its a common thing with gas lasers. sad thing is even if I win that tube at 200 bucks, the power supply is gonna be likely around 300-400 bucks. those really beefy ones tend to be pretty expensive, and are no longer child's play...unlike the little ones that go for anywhere around 20-100 and the medium ones around 150-250. I have a stablized head that I don't even use, because the power supply costs about 3 grand and i don't have money to buy it. The tube with the supply together is about 6.5K new.

I've had a bit of luck with this.

hmm maybe. If I win. someone's already fighting me for it, and my funding is low...if it goes much higher...I may drop out. I can't afford to push out tons of cash right now. Its not worth much more than what i'm bidding now.... its missing it's main casing, and the power supply....my SP-127 is technically superior, I just haven't realigned it yet, and I could use this one in the meantime, but i'm thinking maybe i'm just being greedy and wishful...that and this is a cylinder so i can move it around more easily. the sp is heavy as hell.

edit: yeah, just checked around and the only person who has a supply for the beast is MI, and it's 500 bucks.

Grabbing that IR HeNe.

Though those stabilites are known to be dead. They're stabilized lasers, so worth a pretty penny if working. I'll see if Sam has any plans for it, or even knows of it.

Regardless, dibs until further notice :)

yeah I was gonna do it, but i decided it would be better to share. (i knew you'd want it) and I probably shouldn't spend the money on it. working on getting my 3.39um up and running instead.

Even at the buy it now price it comes out to just 17$ a diode...pretty darn good, and I would happilay take 2 of them of your hands for you at that price

The amount of dust inside is a good indicator, particularly in places where it is difficult to get at it, such as
underneath flex cables. Fine dust will accumulate that is hard to see until wiped with a finger.

I am half tempted to buy the thing right now, but hak has dibs on it, so ill respect that- 18$ per 2W capable diode sounds pretty enticing. And if you can get it for 200, then thats under 10$ a diode...Hope you sell some of them, hak :D

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please

These come up often-

you can get burnt if you bid carelessly-
maybe you can do a GB on one at auction-

splitting the final cost and harvested diodes-evenly-- also tilting the array out- and defeating the switch you can use your glasses and see the 24 diodes hitting your wall/ceiling- some have seen duds this way but in > 10 PJs I have never seen one not working-- IF good ESD precautions are used and the pins shorted before shipping all should arrive fine- If I win this one the diodes all are pretty much 'spoken' for building some blue lab lasers for projectors w/ a partner- BUt if asked later i would be glad to host a GB for kasio at auction--
I have gotten some good deals- and avoided a bunch that seemed to be fishy--there is homework to be done fi you want to well.
