anyone know how close those flashlights are to there reported 300LM and 800LM (depending on the one you bought)

no idea but they are bright enough to see in the dark! lol I stripped mine down right away i just turn the one on and off once.

hmmm i may grab one to use as a flashlight then. i have a pretty crappy big lot flashlight haha. ill have to think if i want 2+ and turn sone into a laser, if i do ill let you know if i sell my other hosts mhemling and about the heatsink GB

I think there are better options around a little more then $8 if your going to use it as a light. I like the head size for a heatsink that is why I am turning all 7 into one. If i was to recommend a light to use get one with a cree xml-t6 and you will be happy, this is what I use the most and love it.

There's an Aussie seller only about 3 hours away with a working SSY-1 head thats sitting on $107 - no Q-Switch. Dam I'm tempted, Meredith has them cheaper but won't export. There have been some M60 (RUBY) laser rangefinders for $300- $500 on US ebay but they won't export either :(

Seriously US export laws, this is like 1960 technology, its not like I'm going to build an M60 tank starting with one rangefinder!

I got my 3x T8-C6es. No charger, but all of them work. Very bright and the reflector/glass is perfect and clear.

Something I can't stand, however, is that 5-mode system. I don't think it has any way to keep memory either; I tried turning it off after getting to the mode I wanted like I read on a site, but that doesn't work. If there's no way to lock it, I'm considering using this hack on the CX2829 chip to just outright remove the controller from the equation. Even with that, I wish I could run it at a lower output though; I don't need the full 2 Amps or whatever it supposedly pushes through.

I know we have some collectors of radioctive materials. I found this on ebay whileest lookig for some mercury. This guy also has gallium at prices lower than any I have seen. Perhaps it's of low quality? I dunno :P

Anyway heres some thorium nitrate. I am not a huge collector of radioactive materials nor do I know much about them. However I do know this stuff is quite uncommon.

FWIW I didn't have to sign for my C8s that came last Thursday (6 days from Singapore is amazing) . They're pretty nice lights too. Nice and bright. I do wish they didn't have the strobe/SOS though. Also ordered a Saik-305 that I planned on using as a flashlight and I have to say the LED in it sucks. I may have to look into getting a different emitter when I order some more batteries for these or maybe I'll get a heatsink for it and try to join the 3w club with it since my last build fell short of hitting 2w at "only" 1.75w.

I received my C8 on tues., didn't have to sign for it. I found the package in the mailbox, looking like it had been run over a few times. After removing the outer packaging, the box the light was in was crushed into the shape of the light itself!
Expecting to find a badly damaged light, I opened the box only to find a perfect working light with no damage at all.
This light is very bright on high mode. I also don't care too much for the S.O.S. & strobe modes.
It is a great light, or host for this price!

BTW - I just checked on the link for this light w/ battery and charger ($15.99). It is now $19.15.
