I do like the fact that the photo diode, which needs to be compensated for wavelength, has a MPU that does that for you. It would be a good meter for checking low power gas lasers. A bit spendy for how much use we could get out of it, though.

Seems we like the same stuff, those are so cheap I bought ten of them a month ago, I figured nice starters for my little SSY-1 (I have several of those now).

I forget sometimes if I linked something or not.

You didn't, that's what I mean, we both thought they were interesting.

But, it says powers on, yet, I agree with the battery problem for the future. I believe they are calibrated to the battery, or is it once it dies, the calibration is lost in memory?

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please

The battery is not dead since it powers on...
Then you have 30 days to return it.
I've had quite a few of these from used to Brand
New.
I've found them to be off by 0-20% testing between
them.

Do you know if this is the NDG700 or the NDG7475. If it is the latter, that is a great price for it. If it is the lower power version it is an okay price for it. By the made up spec sheet they show for it, I believe it is the lower power one. You save a little less than $20.00 over Jordan's prices.

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please

It says 7475 and NEW however the 7475 I bought from this seller was in fact NEW with virgin pins, but it reads 775mw @ 1.8a through a green AR coated 3 element, so it looks very much like I got a 700, but I can't be 100%

DTR shows 1026mw from a ndg700 @ 1.8a through a G2 and 1187 from a 7475 @ 1.8a through a G2 ...So take away another 25% or so for my 3E lens and if I had a 7475 I should be getting 900mw not 775-780mw

From the unlenses starting power a G2 eats 5% and a 3E eats 30% so roughly I take away another 25%, should be about right.

Yeah, I remember Jordan saying if the current in the spec sheet is 1.8 amps instead of 1.7 amps, it is a 700. That was pretty much what I was going by, but you're right. If it were a true NDG7475 you should see more power out at 1.8 amps. It is still an okay price for a new diode. Would love to get the real thing for that price.

I won mine at auction for right at 100 dollars and I thought it could be a 700 even though it was advertised as a 7475, that's why I chose to use a 1.8a driver.

I also have a GBall 1w green that is putting out about the same power @ 1.8a and it was listed as refurbished, so far it has been running great de-canned with a 2 or 3e lens, I paid 40 something dollars for it, with driver, batteries and a flashlight host and self made heat sink I have a really cool 800mw green laser for under 125.00, granted I made a heat sink from aluminum bar stock myself and repurposed the flashlight springboard.

The next green GBall I get I want to be listed as NEW and I think I will leave the GBall intact and use a backwards G2 followed by a G7, I know DTR has some 2.0a SXD drivers for sale that should work really well.
