My assumption it was new wrong, nevermind what I said about being a good price.

Somewhere they are recycling those modules that have been pulled for simply reaching their hour limit and still work, they probably have been told they can't resell them intact, the units we see are likely carried home in a technicians lunchbox, I wonder what some NEW Chinese modules sell for, I see them on Alibaba but not ebay, I wonder why, I have an idea.

Take a look at some of these > https://www.alibaba.com/trade/searc...duct_en&CatId=&SearchText=fiber+coupled+laser

These appear to be NEW > https://www.alibaba.com/product-det...?spm=a2700.7724838.2017115.185.5c141559dLCbd9

What do you think about this? 140W fiber coupled laser.
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/JDSU-ST-925B-925nm-140W-ST925B-fiber-laser/32865050327.html

Compared to a DIY CO2 laser cutter, this would be far easier to power and focus.

Im just skeptical because they do not even provide any data sheet or specifications.
Wouldn't trust that Seller at a rating of 96.8%
nor the fact that I can't see any input shorting
of the leads. It could possibly output a lot less
than 140W.

...Before I spend 700 on a used 140w I will spend 1700 on a NEW 500w....

I always thought those LIMO units were rated at 500W for pulse operation and are more like 100W CW/average power. If its true thats probably the best $/Watt on the market.

Wouldn't trust that Seller at a rating of 96.8%...

I messaged them, they say the item is in stock but do not have a Data Sheet available. I trust them, but don't trust that the laser is up to spec.

I have seen a bunch of these on Alibaba also. I inquired about this product
https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/976nm-110W-high-power-laser-diode_60619327922.html
and they told me the price is $3,600, or $3,800 with a red pilot light. That sounds like the actual cost of these units new.

The way items are priced on Alibaba is so frustrating. Nobody lists the actual price of the item :gun: I guess ill start messaging different suppliers and see if there are any for a better price.

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please

Alibaba is frustrating. I have been getting emails from them for years after I purchased some diamond powder to use in heat sink compounds. Since I bought the laser and drivers from OPT Lasers, they now come daily if not more often. There is never a price associated with anything they are trying to sell to me either. But, they do have teaser prices that are never accurate once you start trying to buy something.

I recently came across this site on Amazon while searching for very thin copper foil. I've found that thin copper foil is a bit harder to come by than brass or aluminum foil/shim, this company has copper as thin as .02mm (.0007").

https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=me=A1OAXIQ154HL11&field-keywords=Copper+foil

I bought some of their .03mm (.0011") for the fitting of modules and heatsinks that are a tad loose. I haven't used any yet, but it seems like a good quality product, and had 4 day delivery.

This is foil only, not the copper "tape" with adhesive on one side; this is better IMHO. :yh:

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please

Like many items for sale on Amazon, this foil seems more expensive than is necessary. All sizes are a meter long sheets, so the 0.3mm is likely very friable, but the .1mm is much more expensive and can only be because of the added copper which still isn't that much by weight. I'll be interested in finding out how it works for you, Jeff.

Great find! Gonna try it out. TY

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please

No driver. That is going to cost someone a bit extra to run one of these. He seems to be hedging the ability for these to work as he says because of ESD, no warrantee.

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please

I did notice that part, but it shouldn't be difficult to test and run of a PSU.

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please

You'll need a 20 amp CC supply. Might get lucky and find one cheap, but it's more likely it will be costly.

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please

I suppose the deal is counteracted on that regard unless you're lucky to already own one. I'll leave it there in case it is of use to anyone here, but based on your points it may not be.
