PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please sub

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please

I thought I might use the 473 housings to build other DPSS lasers, perhaps not, but the price was so low and shipping free for five of them,
I pulled the trigger. I'd like to build a spectrometer too, to have spare parts for that too.

Alaskan, if you eventually want to sell just the spectro parts of one of them let me know.

As for the "cat lasers", I used to have one that came in a box very similar to some of those in the '90s and, AFAIK, it was a higher wavelength like 670nm or something. No longer have it, though.

Not bad to get 5 for the price you would have paid for 2 shipped to your house.

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please

Yep, price was great for the parts and fiber couplings too. I asked the seller if they could ship to my APO, AE address via USPS mail and they said they already shipped via UPS, I wrote back huh? I had not paid for them yet. I am not sure what is up, maybe that listing was created for someone else or they have me confused with another buyer, waiting to see.

Atomic, let me see if I can get them shipped to me here in Iraq through my APO, AE USA address, if they can, I will send you one. If not, it may be awhile if shipped to my home in Alaska.

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please

That's great, let me know when you get 'em. I'm not in a hurry so it's fine if it takes a few months ;)

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please

Nice, Chris. I hope you do get them. I have all the procedures to align and calibrate the spectrometers in these. Make sure you get the free software to run them. It is expensive most places, so you definitely need that. Let me know if you do get any.

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please

OK, they had confused me with another buyer, said they can ship to my APO, AE military mail address, so I might get them. I asked for the software, waiting.

If you need any help, I will be trying to modify the spectrometer out of one of these for another member. The more the merrier. :yh:

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please

I am happy to have what ever help you can offer.

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please

As always, Chris. Good luck on yours.

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please

Just make sure you post a lot of pics and detailed instructions when you do it. I have no clue what to do as I have not seen the insides of the spectro. Guess I should also bug the seller for the promised software to run the spectro aswell. Hopefully aligning and calibrating is not insanely complicated. I'm assuming that calibration required a few known line sources such as he-ne's and quality dpss sources or calibration bulbs?

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please

Ocean Optics uses Ar/Xe discharge lamps to get enough lines to get an accurate calibration. It is best to use at least six lines, but eight is better. And you need ones at the upper and lower limits of the spectrometer. Then there is a third order statistical regression you must solve to get the four variables necessary to plug into the spectrometer's calibration software because the diffraction grating does not give a linear response.

I MIGHT be able to get in touch with someone local with a calibration lamp. Salt-water aquarium expert who iirc calibrated his own spectro.

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please

That would be the way to go, then. If you need someone to solve the equation for you, I am at your disposal.

NiB Coherent Compass 215M-50 $600

Im not interested but there might be a few here that are. A new 50mW coherent compass with controller for $600. At the least, this listing may be able to be used as some serious leverage to talk some of the sellers of the used units down seeing as there are USED units being listed for more than this.

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please

Yeah, it's been on here before. I guess it got relisted.
