PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please sub

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please

Anyone know what output power this might produce? The seller said this listing works, but he was told only 1/2 milliwatt output:

Blue Light, 473nm Laser-optical assembly | eBay

With only 0.5mW output I would expect that the laser has alignment issues or the pump diode has gone.
2.5W pump power should be sufficient for at least 100mW+ I would say.

Output from the factory was 10mW with those. They have optical feedback to keep the power stable at around that power.

IIRC, with some adjustment (removal of light feedback, increase in pump current, temperature tuning) they can be pushed up to around 30mW, maybe a little more.

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please

Really, that low? That's only 0.4% optical efficiency, even at 30mW you're looking at 1.2%. They look like they should handle a lot more than that, but maybe I've spent a bit too long on LPF with us trying to get as much power as possible. :p
If they are after high stability then they would sacrifice the power I guess.

Just because it has a 2.5W pump doesn't mean it's running at 2.5W. ;)

That is true. But I think Alaskan wants to know how much you could physically get out of it.

Typically 20-30mW, sometimes a little bit more, after some modifications of course.

Model is BWB-10-OEM, they were produced by CNI. There's a bunch of threads about them from the past. The heads came in a couple varieties, externally they look the same. One version is just a pump diode, focusing lens, two TECs and the crystal set/cavity. The other version has beam shaping optics between the pump and crystals/cavity.

I had the first version with the more simple optics:

Thanks for sharing that Diachi. :) Nice images.

This is the same unit you and i have bid on before in the past. I was interested in it for the spectrometer in it. It will need some modification, but should be able to get 1nm resolution when done and I have the setup procedure in my files for it. I figured the laser was just a bonus. If you can snag one of these cheap, it should be worth the effort. :yh:

These were set up to have a narrow line width with the spectrometer holding the WL very steady. It wasn't about power, but being right on 473nm and tight line width.

BW-tek 473 just stumbled across this and since I already have plenty of 473nm goodness at my disposal, decided to list it here for any of those less fortunate. Pretty sure these were able to be adjusted to get a reliable 30mW out of them. And for $50 shipped, this is about as cheap as 473 gets.

Not a bad deal, but will need a lens as it was fiber optic coupled and as is.....is not collimated.

Damn, I'd have grabbed that had I seen it sooner! :p

Someone is selling a Fiber-coupled 808 CNI lab unit.

$450 @ 400mW

CNI MDL-III-808/400 Infrared Diode Laser, 808nm, 400mW, Fiber Coupled | eBay

-Alex

That seller has a bunch of optics related stuff! :)

It appears to have some problems. It is 11 years old with "low" hours, yet only output 80% of its original stated power. It is being sold for repair or use at less than specified power.

It's sold already!

Hey, Chris. What about the 473nm DPSS you linked to, there are 7 of then and they have working spectrometers in them that could be repurposed for use outside the laser.

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please

I've been thinking about that too, been watching these being listed for months now from that same seller, sometimes he starts them at 5 dollars on auction, but they keep getting bid up to 50 or more.
