PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please sub

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please

I was planning to order a block of NUBM08 to check if all Gballs make same spot and all LDs have same WL or not.
Then suddenly noticed this new 70W PCB from techhood.

NICHIA NUBM08 445nm 70W Multi-LD Bank/Blue Laser Diode Array/With PCB

Any clue what it is for and do NTC1/2 marked contacts mean thermal sensors?
If I would connect them to a thermometers in place of 10kOhm sensors, would they correctly show the temperature of diodes inside?

@ Alaskan
It's difficult to say with the limited information in the listing, but if I had to hazard a guess, I'd say up to 15 watts maybe. It will depend a great deal on how you pump it. I would think you could talk him down from that price.

Ever since the 462 nm diodes and higher came out, I have lost all interest in 445-450 nm, but that sure is a lot of power. Sorry, can't answer the other questions but had to put those two cents in.

This is exactly what I want to check - from my last experiments (soon I will continue the thread about BB-Dichro mirror) a conclusion can be drawn that WL of most 08 may be 460+nm and not 455 as many may think.
And yes, I am after power/cost ratio, not after pure power.

I already bought a couple from him at 40 dollars each. Just wanted to see what others might think about the maximum power one of these can take at 4 mm X 4 mm X 8 mm. Looking around the net I'm not finding numbers for that size, but I found some drive info for a 3 mm X 3 mm X 5 mm but that example was 15 watts in for 6 watts of 1064 nm out which seemed far too low for the output power.

I imagine that depends on the way it is pumped and cooled. I do tend to make my guesses conservative as I wouldn't want to have anyone damage one of these over pumping it. I'm not sure size alone is the limiting factor.

You'd be extremely lucky to get an optical-to-optical conversion efficiency of >~40% for an amateur laser.

Alaskan. Came across these looking for something else. A pair of OC and HR mirrors for Nd:YAG. They are asking $29.00 plus $10.00 shipping.

They're planar though. It's stupidly difficult to get planar-planar resonators lasing (near impossible) unless your system is so powerful that you can use thermal lensing to your advantage.

Might be good for fold mirrors though.

Thanks for looking out for me, I ordered two sets of those months ago and he forgot to ship them after two weeks, so I asked for a refund.

Huh. I guess some of these sellers are just in it for the fun of it. If one goes to the trouble to list it and gets paid for an order, you would think it's a no brainer to ship it. Go figure.

Paul has experience making Ocean Optics spectrometers work, some are a real PITA needing old computers.

Wonder how that one is hooked up, that's not a 25 pin parallel cable on there, it's 37 pin.

The S2000 spectrometer is used with a deuterium light source to get spectra of elements and chemicals either in vapor or solution. It is an older model, but is quite good for this purpose, IIRC.
