PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please sub

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please

It states it's their version. So any one ever try one?

Yeah they aren't very good. Every time I order from them they always get something wrong, I hate giving bad reviews but that's where all those drivers came from that I gave away. The only reason I posted that link about the G2 lens I found is because not everyone can afford the 36$ real one from DTR or the 56$ one from survival laser

I have and others have tried them, there's nothing wrong with them, however they were going to change to a lens holder that's only 8mm instead of 10mm, this came up in another thread. I don't know if they did this or not, the 3 I got are 10mm length, it still says they are 10mm, if they did change to 8mm then the lens will be too short to use a focus knob.

These are of course not the real or original G2 lenses that are made in the US, it looks like many now are calling any single element lens a G2.

Those single G-type lenses will probably work roughly the same. Most of benefit from those G-lenses comes from the fact that they have such a short focal length and therefore more of the light coming out of the diode gets captured instead of getting blocked or truncated. Plus, since there is a single lens there are fewer losses when coupled with the AR-coating.

Overall, you'll probably be fine with a "G" lens as long as it has the right coating.

Without taking it out again to check i cant see the cover glass shown in the specs but i dont remember seeing one. The only problem is screwing the thing in as there's no where to get purchase with a screwdriver as the end with tabs cut out goes in first so i had to use fingernails only to get it screwed in.
Even without a LPM i can see that the output is much brighter than before, I have a pocket series 405nm 200mw laser from Sanwu via Podo, and the beam is much narrower to.

Sorry i cant go into more technical detail. hth :)

There are a bunch of sellers with the green diodes cheaper than DTR's. Not sure I trust them, but on that one the difference is probably worth the risk, it's almost 50%.

Just wish DTR would lower his green prices :)

looks like they've sold a few of them, how did it work out? Although I must add I'd never buy one like that, My first stop is DTR then Flaminpyro and if that fails I go to survival laser

DTR sells those lens blanks and the G9 lenses too. With a little work, you could mount one yourself for pretty cheap, and they typically outperform the G2 lenses.

It also looks like he will no longer be selling the G9 lenses, he has them clearance priced in 5 packs only, so get them while you can.
