Man, that is a lot of GLP pens! I would love to have that 577nm one. You can leave it to me in your will.

Nah, I’ll take it to grave with me.

That's a nice set of GLPs. Did they recently change the finish to matte black?

Only for the 2xAAA type but the 593.5 still have the shiny finish. Not a big fan of the matte finish.

Now I need to make a rainbow shots but still missing few things for the setup.

I’m working on replacing the non GLPs to make a full GLP collection but that will take a while.

Here’s one you probably haven’t seen in a while. A PHR-805T 405nm 120mW. I bought one from Techhood 2 months ago and finally got it. Cheap, too...only $7. Wanted to add a 405nm to my Pen laser category. I ended up not using the G2 lens because the spot had the comet tail effect. Acrylic lens nixed that.
I round off some of the pen apperature knurling so it’s easier to remove should it be require. I bridged the flexdrive resistor and set the current to 130mA. This driver was perfect for the diode as it’s case negative.
Also had to get crafty for the PCB mount as I lost the one the host came with. I used a piece of nylon and secured it with some HS RTV. I used a piece of the plastic battery tube the host comes with to shroud the switch for the stick-on button.
Pretty neat little purple pointer. Hope you guys enjoy. Fun build.

Hi SGD,
Nice build , I haven't built a pen 66 in a while and just the other day I was thinking of machining a side button. with a 10mm or 12mm switch momentary, need to finish up on a job first before I can build it.

Thx, Bob! I like the pen builds. For me, and I’m sure many others, there’s a level of nostalgia when it comes to pens:).

That's a clean looking build, SGD, very nice; thanks for sharing!
It's nice to see that your new pointer has the "feline seal of approval", besides, who know pointers better than cats?

Nice! I haven't seen a PHR in a while. I was thinking about picking some up myself. On occasion, some of them turn out to be a longer wavelength and it has a noticeable impact on brightness.
Without a spectrometer, I only noticed this when I built several for friends. Setting them all to about 100mW, it was obvious that some were noticeably brighter. I couldn't perceive a color difference, though. They're so cheap, and with some members with spectrometers now, it wouldn't be hard to bin some long wavelength PHRs.

Here's my collection of chrome pens.
Some of these I've shown off. Some I haven't.

Optically corrected 638nm multi-mode diode:
See my post here for details.

150mW 638nm single-mode and 1.2W 638nm multi-mode:
I like the rectangular beam of the high power diode so I left it unfocused. It uses a 650-G series lens. It's very bright.

42691557684_7443369cbb_c.jpg

Greens: 495nm, 508nm, 532nm:
The 532nm is made with an exceptionally well-made, modified module from Z-bolt with an aspheric lens. Output power is 130mW stable and beam quality is very good.
41600199520_1a5a5381c3_c.jpg

Blues: 405nm, 450nm, 488nm:
The 450nm uses a 3mm focal length lens in a custom lens holder made by BowtieGuy (Thanks!) for a very narrow beam at aperture. The power is high enough (250mW) and the beam is dense enough that focusing is not required for a little toasty action.

Single-mode rainbow:
You can see I have an orange gap. Current orange DPSS is too weak and unstable and I'm not a fan of the yellow 57Xnm range. I'm waiting for some 590-600nm diodes to turn up. Hopefully that'll happen within a couple years.

Very nice collection, Pierce. Surely that 638nm 1.2 watt isn't in a chrome pen, is it? I saw your thread on using round cyl lenses to correct the divergence. It is almost square. Great rainbow shot. :thanks:
