I agree the room to mount a driver not soldered directly to the diode would be great, as at higher currents you need to heatsink the driver anyways. Enough room and a spot to heatsink something like the Open source CC-boost driver rhd has designed would be great.

Jstrawn, I looked to see if I could find the original length and couldn't find it. My guess is that it is now 135mm long, but can't be certain about that yet.

Yeah if possible an updated drawing in the OP of the final version would be great.

I'm way ahead of you. I have an email into thejoker301 to do exactly that. so, hopefully in a few hours we will have the overall length of the host verified.

Just heard back from thejoker301 and he said the OP will reflect the new length of 135 mm.

how much of a cost increase are we looking at for a pressfit option?

Look ,

Bassically a press fit option will not help that much. It will increase the cost and we will need to make two versions. One for 5.6mm diodes and one for 9mm diodes. It is just not practical in my opinion. Stocking two versions if the same host.

With the new full back modules made from copper the duty cycle is not being affected that much. I do not think someone did a comrasion , but I am sure the difference is not dramatic if there will be any change at all. As we use copper heatsinks and copper modules the heat dissipates very quickly.

I agree that press fit is nice , but for a practical low price host is not sounds right.

Hmm , if you personally want a pressfit heatsinks , I can do that. But you will have to buy about 30 hosts. Otherwise the price will be too expensive for such thing.

In the future , if this GB will go well we can make another one for a bigger host. Something big as my Arcane. With a press fit or other special design.

Hello everyone. I am here to take orders and answer questions today. I check the OP and it does reflect the increase in the heat sink part of the host. The overall length is now 135mm. Thejoker301 was able to answer some questions earlier, and now we need some more members to order hosts.

Hi Everyone ,

Checked it , the clear coat will go like this :

$10 is the price of a mirror polish finish. By adding $5 you will get your host clear coated too.

You can clear coat the host without a polish finish , but it will not look good.

I also checked it , if we will reach to 50 hosts only it is okay too. Price might change by $1 only. ( it is only in a case 50 hosts will be ordered , if we will reach 75 than price will stay $18 ).

Yea, please no press fits. They are just a pain. And if you ever want to get your module and driver out, well, good luck!

Im still deciding if I want some or not. At 18$ it almost seems criminal to not get some...

It will probably take a few weeks until we get 75 orders.

At $18 you just do not have anything better than this. $23 for a copper heatsink option. Where can you get that ? :)

Yeah, I'll take another with copper sink, both polished and clear coated.

So 2 host with polished and clear coated copper sinks.
