NUBM44 Handheld Build - Stainless steel

Hi ACC,
So Sorry it's still 0.5 . take a look here . Its all i can say.Hope it comes out well for you buddy.

Rich:)
Your right and I'm wrong, It's definitely this one buddy....

I don't know what I was thinking...... :wtf: While your at it can you tell BowtieGuy so he knows ? He still thinks it's 0.75mm.....

Hi Red, I've recently received my J/L 10X, and I've measured the diameters, and the thread pitch of both sizes of threads on the B.E.
I also needed to know these sizes, since I'll be using this on a variety lasers, and will need to make adapters to suit.
I've found one old adapter that I modified to fit this B.E. to my old style J/L PLE, it uses the larger size thread, thus eliminating any radial adjustment possibilities, but it seems to aligned pretty well as is.
I may make more of this style adapter for other hosts. ( I'll add a pic later).

  • The smaller diameter thread that is made to attach directly to the J/L PLE Pro is an (18mm x 0.75mm) thread. The actual diameter measures 17.880mm, this is normal for clearance purposes.
  • The larger diameter thread that attaches to the alignment ring is a (25mm x 0.75mm) thread. It measures 24.80mm, also for proper clearance.

These are a much finer than normal thread for these diameters, and taps are hard to find, and are fairly expensive. The larger size may have to be custom made. It may be easier to just cut these threads on a lathe, if available.
If you find a cheap source for these size taps let me know! :yh:

WOW! EP, that is soooo beautiful! I am so damn impressed!! I would kill for your skills on the lathe good sir!

Hi Acc
You will need an 24.5 mm drill for it also. But you will have to enlarge the hole in steps a finish it with the 24.5

Start at post 41.......

Accutronitis, I've had a chance to re-check my measurments on my PL-E Pro 10X B.E., and as the photos below illustrate, the thread pitch is 0.75mm, and not 0.50mm as shown on the J/L print.
So, as I mentioned in my previous post, both the 25mm B.E. thread, and the 18mm adapter thread (on my B.E.) are a 0.75mm pitch.

I doubt that Jetlasers has changed their thread pitch, more than likely it's just a typo.
I will contact Gray and let him check it out.

My B.E. threads being measured with a Starret thread gauge.

The B.E. thread as compared to a 0.5mm thread on a lens barrel, definitely a courser pitch.

Accutronitis, all I can say is that my particular B.E. is not 0.5mm, that pic with the 0.75 was taken trying to balance the gauge on a box top while I photographed it. I know it doesn't look perfect, but it's damn close, you also saw the other photo with the 0.5mm lens barrel next to it, and you can see that those two threads aren't anywhere close to the same.

Now, that is not saying that they are not 0.5mm now, they may very well be!

Please be sure and let us know what yours turns out to be when you get it today; if you don't have your tap yet, just hold a 9 x 0.5mm lens holder up next to it to compare pitches.

Good luck with your B.E. adapter!

This is a "I told you so" moment for BowtieGuy Because I have my beam expander and the M25 x 0.50 tap that I bought just for this beam expanders thread BUT they are NOT the same ! BowtieGuy was right ! The threads are NOT M25 x 0.50 Jetlasers !

I'm assuming BowtieGuy was also right that the threads are in fact M25 x 0.75 like he tried to tell us !

Anything you would like to add Jetlasers ?

I just checked my JET 10X and it's NOT 0.5 pitch either, the threads are wider spaced than 0.5 and less than 1.0, I don't have a 0.75 pitch tap but BowTieGuy's gauge looks correct.

On a separate note I think the 3X sanwu is M11 x 0.5

Accutronitis, I'm glad to see that you received your 10X B.E., unfortunately, yours is more than likely just like mine; I was kind of hoping that J/L had changed their product, and that the print on their site was accurite.

That dimension on the print is probably just a mistake that they didn't catch, there are so many threads on these optical components that do use the 0.5mm pitch, that they just slipped up. I've got to imagine that there aren't too many of their customers who even look at that print, let alone use it to make their own parts from. :D

Thanks Red.
Seeing that you mentioned the M11 x 0.5 threads on the Sanwu, I was just thinking, if I'm not mistaken, the threads on the back side of the 12mm copper modules are 11 x 0.5mm also.

Sorry EP for trashing your thread..

I made few observations about Sanwu BE..

Stealth Vape 12mm switch nut is fitting perfectly on Sanwu 3X BE.
My gauge (Made in Germany this time :D, I'm never gonna rely on chinese tools again) is saying M12 x 0.75 and Stealth Vape technical drawing says M12 X 0.75

Plus after that I noticed that Sanwu 3X BE will fit Boruit 08-3 Flashlight / Laser straight on without any adapter.. (Sold as Kinfire 08-3 also)

I have little feeling about that Sanwu 3X BE will fit straight on some of these "Starry Cap" or "Pattern Cap" lasers:

0.50mm thread pitch is good for the collimating lens but it's just too fine of a thread pitch for the much larger accessories like a beam expander and would easily cross thread therefor a more suitable thread pitch is used such as the 0.75mm thread pitch, The much coarser thread pitch makes it much less susceptible to cross threading.....

@ ArcticDude : I used that same trick on my moped muffler build, I robbed a jam nut off a toggle switch, but your material that you attach through has to be right about 1.0 - 1.5 mm thick because of that gap at the end of the BE threads and the whole threaded spout is so short, they made it hard to repurpose or it just came out that way, I love the 3X BE though.

Sanwu X3 can be attached Boruit even the facing plate is really thick. Sanwu 3X threadings will go from start to all the way bottom perfectly.

Just ordered Völkel M 12 x 0.75 Tap.

According to Völkel recommended tapping drill size is 11.25mm. -If drilled only 11mm hole, threads may not form properly!

I really like that filp up lens cover you have on your BE ! How did you find one to fit so good on that BE ?
