Hi Avery,

Yeah, I think it would be an asset to have another mod. Preferably someone not located in North America. I'm thinking maybe one of the Australian members. Since I cannot be on the forum in the middle of the night, getting someone from the other side of the world would ensure that the board is covered for most of the day. I would recommend Things, I think he even moderated here before.

I would suggest one of the kindest people in the forum: Photonaholic

If a 2nd mod is required I would suggest a mature calm veteran member that can
read between the BS and can be fair without involving his own personal issues...
Something on the lines of Daguin.... (there are definitely others)

The time zone issue does not seem a big problem as far as I've seen...
Forum issues seem to be handled quick enough by you and Simon... IMO..

Do we really need instant Mod responses...
After all.... LPF is not a Quickie Mart....

Personally I haven't noticed any special need for a second mod, but obviously if Simon and yourself would like some more assistance, it would be good to have one.

@Arayan: Wayne hasn't been very active here for some time, and as far as I know he is admin of a forum and mod of another.. so he would probably not be up for also moderating this forum.

I can think of a couple of people who would be good moderators.. but I don't think any of them have the time or wish to become moderators. I guess we will find out if anyone steps forward.

Yes I noticed this, but I hope it's only temporary :)
BTW, in my opinion, another very good candidate could be Lasersbee...which already moderate ;)

He 'really' does have the best interests of this forum at heart:gj:

I agree with having with having a 2nd mod. We need to have more then one, 2007 cant be here all the time.
While I agree that it would be nice to have someone who is on the other side of the world to help provide 24hr support. I believe it is more important to have someone who has been with LPF for a long time. Someone who has on regular basis, spoke up on issues, or offending members ASAP. We need someone who is going to take action for the good of the forum, instead of waiting for complaints to roll in.

I also think dave would be a good candidate for a mod, in addition to simon.
He has continually demonstrated to be one of the first members, to speak up when issues arise.
He has gone out of his way to clean up issues or ousts spammers and problematic or disruptive members.

I have never been a moderator before. In about a month I am done with school. I could try to help moderating the forum, due to the INFINITE time I will be having this summer. In no way I am posing and saying that you must choose me. I am just offering myself. There are people here who are x100 times worth to become mods but I don't think they will have so much free time as me, at least for this summer. The forum needs someone who can take care of it during Europe time, since time differences are big with America.

Regards, Peter

Arayan: I don't think Lasersbee is a possible mod since he regularly sells products on the forum, and especially since a recent episode..

jaycey: Let's not make jokes which could be regarded as offensive here.

rpaloalto: I seem to remember Dave saying he did not wish to be a mod.. He might have changed his mind though, guess we don't know unless he comments on this himself.

LOL! Did you miss the part in red above ;)

I used to be a mod over at "the other" forum until I realized that money was more important than character there. I would be honored to moderate here.

I don't see "time zones" as a real issue. The overwhelming number of posts (especially problematic posts) come from North and South America. I can only recall one problem originating (maybe) in Europe. We had the BlueFusion issue from OZ, but that was more of a "business" problem than a moderation problem. Nothing from Asia. I don't think we even have any members from Africa yet.

Niko (S. Amer.) would be good. In another time zone block (the UK/Europe), CharlieBruce could do the job. Although I believe that both of them are busy with school right now. Photonaholic, of course.

Peace,
dave
