New Apple iPad official!

Ipods are really great compared to any other mp3 players, if you like music you do want an Ipod, believe me. I've got an Ipod Nano 4G and I've never regret the 120€ it costed to me :)

Sorry to contradict you, but this isn't true.

I have an Acer (yes, a crappy 20GB Acer) MP3 player, and comparing the outputs on a spectrum and distortion analyzer from this one and all the ipods that i had in the hands for repair, there's no differences, in the most cases, and when there's a difference, the Acer one wins ;)

Other than this, ippods have closed system and proprietary software that don't let you play freely that what you want (i have all my CDs stored also in MP3 format, for when i want to load them on the player ..... at least half of the MP3 files don't become recognized from ipods, where instead with the Acer it's enough a "copy and paste" for have them ready)

The only player worse than ipod, that i've tried til now, it's the Sony walkman serie ..... EEEEK

I concur with the above, I just set up an Ipod for a friend, The software was a huge download, took forever to get...

Then I installed the software on my computer, and started adding music from my library.. all seemed well, then I clicked sync and 124 songs puked and would not load.

The front control may be fine for small people with tiny fingers, but big guys like me have a hard time navigating that silly touch dial.

It would not let me load personal videos, it kept directing me to BUY movies and TV episodes from I store.

They are expensive, over rated, too thin, just not my cup of tea......

My son has a small $30 mp3 player that is easier to use, and he constantly leaves it in his pants pocket, that little MP3 player has been in the washing machine and dryer so many times, and it still works.

... once you check out good mp3 players and headphones....

btw, I just checked the website you linked me to and guess what I read:

Kinda contradictory with your idea of "sound quality is all you should care about and it's crappy on your Ipod" xD

Sound quality is all you should care about when you have good headphones .... should have mention that headphones are also part of the equation to ... thanks for mention that : ) as its true you can have the best mp3 and the 4$ head phones and your no better than an ipod with with 200$ headphones :P

i am rocking the cowon s9 and Future Sonics atrio M5's ...... pretty close to the best set up you can have without spending over 800$ on your headphones.

and theirs no priority software lke the others mentioned its also just drag and drop with mediamonkey : )

and even then ipod have never been the best for even storage to $ ratio ..... last year is when i purchased my set up and before that i had an archos with 320 gb hd : )
and that's what i hate about i pod their so big people don't really even research the other companies that are out their, not trying to bash you or any thing i am just bashing the company as i will give them that their interface beats mine hands down but honestly when its in my pocket theirs not really much i use the touch screen for : ) but other then that its the fact that people wont research more as they see no reason to when ipod is their.

Ugh! NOT WANT!

I've been a mac user for all my life (still have my original Mac Plus I bought new) and I use right now three macs and a PC, plus owning an iPod Touch and a nano... but I see absolutely no use for this product for me.

I can't for the love of me understand why I would sacrifice keyboard, trackpad, DVD player, OS, HD and memory for something that's about the size of my iBook???

The concept of a reading tablet is flawed and it will be a fad that will go the way the newton did (oh, and I still have my old Newton in a junk box somewhere...).

It's not that I am resisting change... it's just that this product (and all its predecessors) is a technology that is being seen as an alternative to printed material... well sorry but I make a living through printed material (graphic designer by trade) and I prefer the feel of a newspaper, or a paperback. This will never be part of my culture.

^. I agree and plus if I read too long on a screen my eyes hurt. I can read little posts but not a whole book.

I agree with Robert. I'm one of the children who has grown up in the digital age and still I prefer to read things on actual paper over a digital medium anyday. Books aren't even something to argue over. Paper for me is the way to do, and I don't understand why people would want to read a novel on a tablet. Also my friend who owns a used book store said this to me one day: "You wouldn't read a tablet in the bath or anything like that because if you were to drop it you'd be out $500 compared to $10 with a regular paper book". But it's more classy to have a bookshelf full of your books then have it filled with random crap :P

So.. what is it for? I cannot imagine who would actually buy this. I don't know a single person who prefers reading on a screen to reading on paper. The specs are super crappy and the price is high.. and the only advantage you get is that it's thinner than a laptop and can be moved around while switched on because it has a flash drive and not HDD?
What about the terrible processor? What about the extremely limited and non-upgradeable storage capacity? What about the fact that you have to bring an extra $$$ Apple brand keyboard with you unless you want to write on a crappy touch screen? What about the fact that the OS, while looking good, sucks in most other ways? What about the fact that it doesn't hook up to USB unless you pay even more $$$ for large adapters? I could go on and on and on... The only advantages of this product seems to be the look and slightly improved portability, and those disappear the moment you want to hook up any other device to make it suck less.

This "iPad" is a joke. Perhaps I would have considered it 4-5 years ago when these specs were not at the very bottom of what you could get.
