Im stumped!!! bought this laser: LZSK - Stick 532nm 100mW Focusable Green Laser Pointer

arrived today and used it once, took the batteries out and let it sit while i packed for vacation. finished packing and wanted to use the laser again so put the battery back in and screwed the tailcap on. it gets about 7/8 way on, completely smooth and not cross threaded, then just stops and seizes up!!! it wont turn on since the battery isnt quite making connection but if you shake it back and forth VERY slightly the battery makes a connection and goes on/off real quick. now you can see my problem, how do i get the tailcap off so i can see why it got stuck. i emailed max and told him my problem and asked for help so i will see what he says. im hoping he will be able to help since he has been super helpful but i want second opinions please. i dont want to take pliers to it and damage the host (that could be absolute last hope if max cant help). im just straight out stumped!!!! someone please help me out here. i only got to use this laser for 5 minutes and then try to use it again and its jammed :(

If it isn't cross-threaded, then the threads have gotten galled up a bit

You can try holding the tailcap gently in a vice (with padded protection for the anodizing) while you try to unscrew the barrel by hand

Then use some silicone lubricant on the threads

If you cannot get the tailcap off this way, you can try using some lubricant between the parts before attempting to unscrew it.
Keep the laser horizontal as much as possible when doing this
You want to avoid getting the lubricant into the switch

Clean it up well after and lubricate the threads sparingly after

Peace,
dave

I tried legt 5 different ways to post the video and all of them came up white box or black box. I dont have a vice but Im trying to find those silicone grops to open jars to help give me grip. Cant do much before vqcation so ill keep you updated when I get back

Well at least I helped you with the YouTube part, hopefully you can fix your laser :)

WELL-- Its NO wonder-- I see your problem.

your pics are...

too large!!

RESIZE PLZ

THEY NEED TO BE MED. size..

There are many here that will not even try to scroll back and forth ..
you must have noticed this yourself-- do you see others posting pics this large??

whatever you do TAKE your time and use force with care--
a few wide rubber bands both help to get a better grip and protect from scratching
heed the great advice from Daguin- if you still have no luck-- consider sending to somebody with experience--

On my browser.....firefox, the pictures fit without even loading a scroll bar on the browser. Not sure why they are so large on your computer. Im posting this from my phone so I cant resize them but if a mod sees this and would like to resize them for me while im gone then that would greatly be appreciated. Ill try thr rubber bands when I get back

well sure-- I need to quit resizing and just let dave do it--

J/k with you.
we all re-size our own-

Using a phone as a PC is your choice-
I had somebody complain how hard it was to read & REPLY TO my posts on their phone--
iTS A PHONE!

Re-sizing to medium is not a suggestion-- its kinda the rule here- and it matters not how your pics look on your PC- we should not, and very well may, not scroll back in forth to see them- its been that way here for a LONG time.

and while I am busting your chops..
-- those white blocks in your OP are never going to turn into video links so waz up wit dem?

besides your billboard pic of your possibly cross threaded laser will really not help us help you to get it opened anyhoo .+

sent from my desktop PC on a full size keyboard and NOT while i was driving--rotfl:beer:

try applying some heat to the cap---hairdryer or cover with plastic bag and run under hottest tap water---silicone rubber or rubber bands for a better grip should work.

if you get it open follow up with daquin's advice on lubrication of the threads

I know you are eager to be helpful but..

maybe you might read more and advise less my young friend.:yabbem:

The vets here all have made thousands of mistakes.:undecided:

WE own them all- they are ours and you are not allowed to repeat them TYVM

Go find new and original mistakes of your own.

why not a big ole hammer??:(

the heat method is a good idea- as is the mouse pad -

I have heard of freezing then heating to make stuff come apart too.

have a nice cruise and please post some ( MEDIUM!) pics when you get back!!:beer:

Leather works wonders on not scratching the unit up be it a vice or pliers;)
Leather belt or strap is thick and won't be easy to puncture with the jaws compared to rubber. You can even remove pen laser caps without scratching them.

I have several pieces of old leather belt.
Different sizes so they fit most projects.
If you get it apart, you may have to
chase the threads with a small triangular
file to clean them.
Some housings have trouble closing on
a protected cell.
