Christmas time is usually when peoples pockets are the most ties up and I don't want to be the Peterson to make that person stretch their budget any further then they already are.

A thought occurred to me last night with something you said in the original feeler thread. I thought I'd post it here rather then bumping the original thread. :)

If you get a list of all the names excluding the person that got you, won't you know who got your name anyway by process of elimination? After all, they will be the only person on the list that you won't be sending a PM too. :na:

Good thinking! Though I will try not to pay attention to names besides the ones I am supposed to pm to you guys :thanks: I was always bad at those silly remembering games anyway. I'd forget my own head if it was not attached and that's the truth! :na:

Just ask a non-participating member to randomize the list. There are lots of people on the forum that would gladly help out. 10 minutes of time to send a couple dozen PMs.

Regarding shipping internationally. I'm not going tracked shipping. I rarely ever use tracked shipping - it's not necessary.

If the extra ~$5 to ship internationally is an issue, why not instead just ask the international participants if they'd be willing to cover the extra $5 via paypal gift after the fact.

I'm sure its apparent, but I really have a distaste for segregating international recipients into some sub class - especially as part of something that is meant to be a positive giving experience.

Would it be correct to say that you do a lot of shipping to the US?

It seems to me that the majority of LPF users (At least the active ones) are located in the US, which means you more then likely ship a lot of items into the US. In other words it's much more common place for you to pay a little extra for shipping then those of us in the US are used to.

I will say that I was originally one of the ones that didn't want to pay for any international shipping at all, but your posts have swayed my opinion the other way. :)

Although I will still opt for a tacking number, but that's just because I'm a bit of a control freak and don't like the not knowing where something is. :D

It's interesting, the answer is both yes and no!

YES, I do ship to the US more than within Canada.
But NO, that actually doesn't make it more common place for me to pay a little extra.

Why? You're not going to believe this... but it's actually cheaper for me to ship from Canada to the US, than to ship within Canada. Quite serious. The same package size/weight is cheaper to ship from Toronto to Seattle, than from Toronto to Vancouver.

Regardless, I'm quite happy to ship to an international member. I've shipped those Mosquitoes all over the place, and it's generally about $5 regardless of where it's going. Europe is sometimes $6, Canada might be $5, US might be as low as $4, but it's basically all centered pretty close to the same price.

I'm quite happy to say that for me at least, I'll reimburse my secret santa for any extra shipping costs associated with getting something out to me in Canada, if that means we're not fracturing the pool.
