My Plasma Speaker!

Got an email back from him, said he has started the production run and is just waiting on the PCBs. I've requested if he has specs/pics he could send. I'll post back.

HA! That's awesome!!!! I've never heard of this before, very cool mate! (cant rep ya, need to spread it first)

Crap, my wish list keeps getting longer. Strangely enough it's starting to get more non laser stuff on it, then lasers. :)

1) WFTM
2) DIY Xray
3) Fire Piston
4) Plasma Speaker

@Le Quack: How does the build cost on yours compare to the Tesla Coil ones that are on E-Bay?

I know what you mean. While putting money away for the WFTM and one of these plasma speakers, my builds are suffering. I have many hosts now and no diodes left at all :(

Love the look of yours Fiddy, I only wish I live a little closer and could see it in person.

Certainly less :p

But I've currently got 1 other order, and one more potential order... And I'm going to be a bit busy over the next few days.

Price quote? Like $40 for the whole speaker. I can't provide power supplies though. 18650 batteries (4 in series) work nicely for powering it, as it draws a max of 2-3 amps, depending on a few factors. ;)

I'm just a hobbyist, so finding flyback transformers can be somewhat tough, especially the smaller ones needed for plasma speakers.

Also, I apologize for the threadjack....

Yeah :( ive had a few friends over who just cant be told that the corona it gives off is producing the sound, one has to see it to believe it :D

I bought a 150W laptop charger to run it but, it wont work atm, i think the charger is to smart and doesn't see it as a load.

Might have to build one, atm im using my Lab PSU.

W a n t t o b u i l d !

I love this kind of stuff. Nice job, man.

:D

Interesting quacky, how big does the corona get on your jobbies?

At $40 Quack, I'm going to have to pick one of those up from you. We have other matters on the table though so no rush, just keep it in mind =).

LOL, okay. xD

I'm busy looking for parts for all of these things... So it may take me a bit to find them. Small flyback transformers are kind of hard to source. :p

As of right now, my list of projects is

1. Sigurthr - 30 kV HVDC power Supply

2. ARGlaser *MAYBE!* Plasma speaker

3. Sigurthr - Plasma Speaker

Unfortunately I'm going to have to put a hold on any other orders. I can't keep making these, because I need to source parts (i was using my stores for almost all of them, and they're running low in heatsinks, and flybacks)

I'll wait until I get more parts before I accept more stuff again. :p

Hehe, you asked for business, we brought it en masse =P. Aye aye, sounds good.

Now then, Fiddy, Moar videos please.

Video of it playing nyan cat and a subwoofer test :D

I'm on a mobile connection since I moved, so I havent been able to watch any youtube vids :(
