You call that a list? Mine is in the 60s. The trouble with me is I cant afford to buy everything for a single project. So every time I'm at the flea market/junk store/antique shop, I buy what I can for all the projects on my list. So I have a huge pile of parts, but not enough for a single project. I also need space, which right now is very limited.

Is there a specific reason why it's not bass friendly? Or are all plasma speakers like that?

They're all like that, it has to do with the method of sound production. Running two in stereo helps a lot but still <300Hz is attenuated.

Can you keep running multiple units to get a 5.1 surround sound like effect? And have one specifically dedicated to bass only? Or would that not work?

The frequencies these run at do not reproduce bass. Plus they are not that loud, so using it for a stereo speaker wouldnt work well.

I'm going to hook mine up to a horn to increase volume.

The real reasoning behind why plasma speakers can't reproduce bass too well is mainly just because of how a speaker works;

A big subwoofer (BIG) moves a ton of air to make bass frequencies loud, using magnetism. It's just simple physics, right?

Well, a plasma speaker takes that a step further, using an arc to shake the air. Problem is, to make bass frequencies, you'd have to have a very large arc to move that same large volume of air like how sub woofers can.

They're absolutely wonderful for producing high frequencies, because there's no magnetism or slowing down associated with magnetism occurring here. Just an arc vibrating the air. :)
 
Yep, it can be done with high current high voltage arcs though. Not something easily/cheaply made or something you want sitting there for a while unattended, haha.

IIRC >50kV @ 50mA (2.5kW!) reproduces bass frequencies very well and with ample volume. I saw it done with a 10ft TC once.

I hear you. I'm mostly in the same boat. I have a list of things to look for when I go to flea markets. The issue is really just finding anything. Everyone these days seem to be selling some new fad (quack) diet pill or some other "medical" product. Flea market's are like late night infomercials these days. I need to hit up a Hamfest, I haven't been to one of those in at least 10 years, but back them at least, they always had cool stuff.

My list would be much much longer if I really thought about it too long. Those were just the ones off the top of my head. :)

Bummer, but I couldn't afford to do anything right now anyway. I may pick up one of the kits sometime when I have more money, but I'd really like to just buy one fully assembled. I guess I'm just an instant gratification type of guy. :)

Thats too bad. We have places like that too. Most of the best spots are in out of the way places. I'm lucky to live in New England. There is never a shortage of old stuff around here. Maine especially. There are miles of antique, and junk shops.
