I was going to create a new thread but decided it better to post here. My new member at the top of this list goes to my 532 lab. A hefty $1,200 for it and worth it. When I told my family members how much I spent for light they were about to hit me in the face :undecided:

I don't blame them :p

Don't feel bad Hap, I've got quite a few that cost between 500.00 and 1000.00, but it my collection and works for me. :)

Ps, but you might want to learn to duck. :D

It is better to have discussion like this:

...
?: "Wow, how much does this thing cost?"
!: "It was expensive."
?: "Yes, but how much did you pay for that?"
!: "A lot."
?: "Amount, please..."
!: "Do you really want to hurt your chin when it hits ground and lose your eyeballs after I tell you that?"
?: "What?"
!: "Look, they are giving out free cookies overthere!"

:D :D :D

BTW: Mine was probably 589 nm Spartan. Maybe it will be beaten by Optotronics RPL II (532 nm 1.4 W portable), but I'm still not decided yet...

Depends, are we going with the "new" price or the eBay price? :D

Probably the two Melles DPSS units for me though, at least what I paid for them.

Way back in 2008ish I spent $1300 on a new RPL-300. That was back when a 300mw green laser was damn near the best you could hope to have.

How is the laser today? Do you still have it? If so, it would be interesting to see what it hits on an LPM after 8+ years :)

The most expensive laser I have ever bought(so far) is an M140 build in a C6 host. It originally output about 2.3W and it's still outputting over 2W almost 5 years later.

Last I checked, it hovered at a bit less than 200mw on full power. It seems that the output has fallen a bit over the years, but the beam specs are still very good.

An RGB projector for about $1000 a few years ago. These days it would have cost just like $300, time flies. It didn't even have proper blue, only 405nm

The Spartan 589 was the most expensive laser I have purchased. I probably could have gotten away with the 30mw version but gambled on the game that the 50mw modules just binned higher. Very unstable and likes it cold but not too cold.
