Hey there,

I got a tracking number from paypal and I've checked it a few times now, but it's saying "There is no record of this item."

I wasn't really expecting such cheap shipping to be tracked at all, so it's not really a big deal, but I'd just like to confirm if you've mailed yet or not.

Thanks!

Yes, it's been shipped. If you get a notice from Paypal, it's been shipped as I don't print the labels until the day I ship. And, USPS doesn't update their tracking very often. Sometimes it won't change until after it's been delivered.

Great! No worries, I'll get them when I get them I guess.

Thanks for responding so soon, I'm really impressed with your service!

Well, someone in Australia said they had theirs in about a week, yours was shipped 5/9, so I imagine you won't have to wait very much longer, but I don't know.

Re: Micro-Drive laser driver – fits Aixiz module

USPS doesnt offer tracking. at all. WHat you have there my friend is a fine little "Delivery Confirmation". So it basically tells you if it has arrived at your house. After it has arrived. Not very helpful (unless you are dealing with some scamming damn little ebay freak who claims he never got the package, then you say BAM DILEVERY CONFIRMATION BIOTCH!!!! and he get owned. other than that it isnt good for anything.)

anyhow, happy mailwaiting... Ever since I have gotten into this hobby, the mail is in the house as soon as the mailman arrives LOL!!! my mom sees that as one of the only positives of this "dangerous" hobby.

regards,

amk

EDIT: I always get my stuffs from rckstr within 3 days.

Re: Micro-Drive laser driver – fits Aixiz module

Just wanted to add that this driver works great with a 6x blu ray in a kenom barrel. Using two rechargeable cr123's (3.6v, but more like 4.2 when fully charged)

Re: Micro-Drive laser driver – fits Aixiz module

Got all mine today. Wednesday.

Thanks

Re: Micro-Drive laser driver – fits Aixiz module

I b ought a 38 mA driver, and then later on bought a 100 mA and 300 mA pair together. I received a receipt from paypal for the pair, but didn't get anything for the 38 mA. Could you confirm payment went through? Thanks.

Re: Micro-Drive laser driver – fits Aixiz module

I baught some 38mA drivers for Blue-Rays, harvested a diode from a PS3 sled from PSX boy to test one. It worked great. It`s not overly bright (probably less than 20mW), and prabably not working the diode too hard either. Im very satisfied.

Hint: In the packaging for LED trailer hitch accessories(Ford Emblem), there is a small 12V battery and holder hooked up with a tactile switch to test the LEDs before you buy it and plug it into your vehicle. I used that battery holder and 5 LR44 batteries from the dollar store and it works awesome. 7.5 V and its a lot smaller than a 9V battery. It all fits into a cheap $3 aluminum flashlight, and looks professionally made too. A five pack of those batteries only cost $1(cheap laser food).

Re: Micro-Drive laser driver – fits Aixiz module

would it be possible for you to make like an 80 or 90mA?

;D

I've had so many requests for this range, lol.  I'm guessing HD-DVD high power violet diodes?

I don't know if anyone saw it, but I posted a small paragraph in post #2 about alternative values.  I came up with some other possible output currents that I can do using the 33 ohm resistor I use for the 38mA driver.  There are two possible values between 50 and 100mA, which are 76mA and 87mA.  They'd be the same price as normal, but I don't have them listed on my order page... I'm going to make up a new button for these values (I can't fit any more in my current ones).

EDIT: New purchase option available on my page so you can order any of the alternate values. You'll just take a look at the list and then enter that value into the box.

Re: Micro-Drive laser driver – fits Aixiz module

Also, how would anyone feel if I increased the price to $7 for assembled drivers and $5 for unassembled kits?

I'm going to be busy this summer with working in research and tutoring summer classes, so my time may be limited. In order to make the time I spend on these worthwhile (I spend around 4-6 hours a day on these, usually), I feel the price needs to increase.

I want to offer a fair price, but considering you'd be spending more than $7 just to get the parts from Radioshack or from an online dealer (not to mention putting it together yourself), I think it's still reasonable being only $2 more than previously.

So, just let me know what you think. Thanks.

Re: Micro-Drive laser driver – fits Aixiz module

I don't wish to deny a man his profits, but why would you increase price of the unassembled kits too? You just toss those into a bag and ship them out. They're not even fragile enough to warrant anything more than a first-class envelope.

Also, the big selling point of this kit is the custom PCB board, not the parts. These SMT parts are extremely cheap especially in the quantities I'm sure you're buying them in, and that $7 figure might apply only if you're buying a single kit of parts from Mouser, including the cost of shipping. Amazingly enough, with Mouser, shipping even goes down if you buy larger quantities since the parts weigh practically nothing. I got the price of 10 kits worth of parts to about $20 shipped, and I'm sure the cost-per-kit goes down dramatically in even larger quantities.

All the above doesn't matter if people are willing to still buy them. I don't care about the price of the assembled kits, since the labor and tools involved make it a pain--but I know an 66% increase in the price of the unassembled kits would make me think twice before buying them, as that money could be better spent on my own PCB fabbing and parts.

Wow, so its not magic that gets these shipped out so fast.

I'm surprised you haven't raised the price if this is the case.

I understand, and I wasn't sure I wanted to increase the price on the kits or not, at least by $2. For the kits, though, it comes down to the fact that I'm only charging $3, and I don't sell many so the profits are really minimal.  I still have to make the PCBs (etch, drill holes, cut to size), along with cut wire, sort components, etc.  Even for the assembled drivers, profits are only $2 more than those, so not much more.  If I sold huge amounts of these, like hundreds a month, the current profit margins wouldn't be so bad, but since this is a relatively small market, there's not much to move.  I've also considered selling them on eBay for substantially more to try to make a little extra profit, as I see unassembled kits for LM317 are going for like $10 alone.

But, I like providing these to people at a good price, it makes me happy that people are enjoying them.  Although, I've had my girlfriend complaining to me recently because I'm "always making those things", lol.

Anyway, this is the reason I wanted to ask, to get an idea of what people thought, I didn't want to just increase prices and people be like "WTF??", I wanted to see how you guys felt about it, if you'd still buy them.  And I haven't settled out whether I'm increasing or not or how much yet.

LOL, no, no magic hands here... just hard work.

Re: Micro-Drive laser driver – fits Aixiz module

I'll gladly pay the increased price, and welcome you back to sanity....I TOLD you that you were nuts for selling them so cheap - that is why I insisted on paying you a little more than you wanted :D Damn, I love it when I am right ! (it happens so seldom...ya know !) hehehehehe
