It is Here.!!!!! 300mW "635nm" Mitsubishi.....

I'm noticing with a few of these graphs what I was seeing in my C-mount test. A somewhat steady power that dropped slowly, but continues as such. I came the conclusion that it was heat related and was able to steady mine out with a TEC a bit but still was unable to zero in a stable output for any length of time...10min+

I would be interested in seeing in different environments what the 'stable' power of these diodes are. I.E.:TEC, large lab style sink, hand-held sink, etc. I think also, proper cooling combined with the correct 'sweet spot' power output will keep the diode at a nice 635nm.

Is this just a quick peak with a dramatic fall back to 700mW. I would be more interested in seeing what super cooling them does to the wavelength.

Yep, it falls back as it warms up, and it doesn't take long. For now the diode is just in a module and it doesn't matter if it is being cooled the output drops pretty quick as the diode warms up.

It would be interesting to see what the cool temperature does to the wavelength.

If my diodes ever come in the mail I'll try cooling them with dry ice and see if I notice a difference.

@jnhowett
LOL @ sandwiching the module with ice packs :crackups:
Yet, I think your LPM is not calibrated properly :D

Gonna put my diode in my yellow WF-501B... with a custom buck driver. Just waitin' for the HS.

I did a quick IP/OP with one of mine over the weekend.
The test was done using a 650-G-1 lens, a bench PSU, and the module in a large heat sink
Here are the (rough) results

mA -- mW -- V
150 -- 18 -- 2
200 -- 65 -- 2
300 -- 160 -- 2.1
400 -- 264 -- 2.1
500 -- 358 -- 2.2
600 -- 429 -- 2.3
700 -- 500 -- 2.3
800 -- 559 -- 2.4
900 -- 612 -- 2.5
1000 - 652 -- 2.5

I did NOT go beyond 1000mA.
The efficiency was already dropping off for several hundred mA

It was most efficient between 300-500mA
Then it leveled off a bit between 500-700mA
After 700mA it dropped off

I probably won't run this higher than 700mA

Peace,
dave

^^^Very interesting results. Thanks for testing it out.

Really wish they would row faster on that slow boat from china with my host.

Thanks for the info Dave. I also dont Plain on going past 700mA. I actually dropped mine down to 780mA last night and going to drop it down again to 700mA. My Freak at 1A was only doing 900mW. At 780mA i was getting a reading of 830mW. THis is with a 405-G-1 lens.

Around 600mA was where i seen it being the most efficient mA to mW. after that you can see it dropping off for me.

My second diode came in and its on par with everyone Else's.:) SO I can confirm that the first one i got in this Thread was a Freak to some Extent. Its stubborn at high currant and does not want to put out more then ~900mW.

Edit:

Ill wait till the 500mW come back out to get 1W+....If that is Possible with that diode.:)

Pretty much the same efficiency as my build that I have set at 800mA's...

It is 550mW's. (650-G-1)

How bright are these at 500mw? An easy 4 to 6 times brighter than a 200 mw 660nm?

That sums things up rather nicely. Thanks Dave!
