Pull the ol' "education" bit on them, showing that you'll become a bright young electrical engineer with what you're going to learn. You'll be making circuits, using optics, and of course you'll be working with lasers. Of course remember to tell them you'll be using goggles so that your eyes will be protected, and make sure they know that you know about not shining these things out doors or in places where you (they) could be liable. That way they know you already know the responsibilities.

This is great DDL! Umm... Reserve a spot for me please... I don't know if I'll commit to it, but the chances are good... Maybe change the list to 21.5 commits.

NOT being argumentative, but I fail to see the value point of these diodes
DDL - you KNOW I am not trying to sabotage, it is just simply that there is not enough known about these things to validate spending that kinda cash on a diode in my book. No data / spec sheet from the actual manufacturer, only the results of limited testing done by you. I am NOT knocking your testing, etc - but seriously - you are one person, testing a tiny quantity of diodes. I just really do not see how the company you are dealing with can be so demanding on the price point when they do not know shit about the diodes ! Hopefully nobody will read this, and think I am slamming DDL or anyone else - Okay, maybe that is a lie, I think I am slammin the diodes themselves - out of frustration for not having enough information about the damned things to make an informed decision. In all honesty, if there was a spec sheet for these, you know, that was written by the actual manufacturer, etc.....and had hard data, specs, etc - and they were STILL $40 something ? They would still be way too expensive for me - but I would at least understand the infatuation with some of you and the idea of these diodes, as it stands - I do not understand at all. No offense intended to anyone, I assure you !

Just ordered one of your 16x diodes for my portable and I'll use my open-can for the extreme TEC stuff.
Sorry to bail out of the GB but I'm tired of tying up this budgeted $$.

I'm still in DDL...for 2 even! Although I do like the Senkat diodes. And Greg's prices and service can't be beat, but I already have 3 of those! I want to try the other ones too...So, I hope there is still enough interest!

I agree with you SenKat. I have bashed the supplier with the same questions repeatedly and still am in frequent contact with them about the datasheet and/or a manufacturer to refer to! The price is too high for these... and no matter how I try to drop it down, they are firm on the price.
I will honestly try to knock it down as much as I can, and pass it all you all... I only need to know what these diodes can do, and something or the other from the manufacturer before I commit myself to a GB on the order of $40+ a pop! :-/

Jay, with the current amount of orders, I don't have a bargaining chip to throw in their face... If I were to be ordering 100+ units, I could demand my own price to some point... I could go ahead and stat this GB with the 20-some orders we have if that is what needs to be done. :-?
