INTEREST GAUGE for PHAZOR Diodes -- 200mW CW!!!

Re: INTEREST GAUGE for PHAZOR Diodes -- 200mW CW!!

CHP --

Now there's an idea Moderate CW with pulsed peaks. I think some industrial lasers do something like that to allow smoke to clear. I gotta look into this. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Dae..Is the running total correct???

I'm in for 2, but not yet listed...

I just was wondering if we were getting close...

It was a 50 Piece Min..correct??

Larry

I think I forgot to update the running total a bit :-[

DDL, just checking - did you see my last post? (bottom of page 3)

Re: INTEREST GAUGE for PHAZOR Diodes -- 200mW CW!!

Yes I did Pseudo... I have been WAY busy with the GB and so many other things I've really been in over my head... haven't been on the board much the past week and just trying to catch up now ;D

A voltage Vs. Current test will be conducted and the corresponding readings plotted for the SenKat diode and the Phazor :)

I think I might one-up that and get a power reading too... :P

Shouldn't take that long... i don't think. :-? and hope :-[

Pulsing can help with burning.  I used to superpulse a one of my lasers.  The laser was run CW with a stream of high power pulses.  The high power pulses were short in duration with respect to the thermal time constant of the laser.  The high power pulses would slightly char the surface and increase absorption.  Then the normal laser power would be able to burn the target.

You are probably quite right about that.

I was thinking about increasing average power by pulsed operation which is only effective when the mW/mA curve is steep, but pulsed operation could surely be effective to increase burn speed for a given average power.

Just wondering.. what kind of frequency and duty cycle did you use for the pulses? I'm thinking of playing with this a bit, but i don't know where to start frequency-wise.

Re: INTEREST GAUGE for PHAZOR Diodes -- 200mW CW!!

I've done some tinkering with the power vs current graph Deadal made for the GB diode, see below.

There are some examples on the chart for 200 mA average current. I've chosen 200 since may people run it CW at that much without ill effect. The optimum power-vs-current point seems to be at 240 mA/141 mW, which can be used at 83.3% duty to get an average of 200 mA. The power gain from this is neglible though, just 1.5 mW average.

Also, i looked at 400 mA with 50% duty, which gives a lower average of 103 mW, but peaks at 206. I think i'll drive a LD using that for a bit, just to see if it burns any better compared to 200 mA CW.

That's a nicely thought out graph ;)

Thanx for doing that :)

Re: INTEREST GAUGE for PHAZOR Diodes -- 200mW CW!!

What is the difference between a PHAZOR diode, and a regular laser diode?

Re: INTEREST GAUGE for PHAZOR Diodes -- 200mW CW!!

Been answered before :P

I just called them Phazor diodes because they are the most powerful I could find in a 5.6mm closed can OEM setup at a reasonable price ;)

Any more foward motion with this GB????

Re: INTEREST GAUGE for PHAZOR Diodes -- 200mW CW!!

Apparently not... I sent the source an e-mail earlier tonight actually asking about the prices and if they had changed yet :-/

Will let everyone know if anything pops up... :)

Re: INTEREST GAUGE for PHAZOR Diodes -- 200mW CW!!

Well, I would be down for one if you can get enough people rounded up. It would be a great addition to the laser barrel that Kenom is working on. mmmmmm

Re: INTEREST GAUGE for PHAZOR Diodes -- 200mW CW!!

I'm also thinking this will be a great addition to my barrel if it indeed is what you claim it to be. I've got a customer clammering for one 200mw cw. So put me down for 4

Re: INTEREST GAUGE for PHAZOR Diodes -- 200mW CW!!

this'll be my first group buy, and I'll probably get one, just a few questions:

how would I pay for it, can I use paypal?
is there shipping? Hoe much for the U.S?

Re: INTEREST GAUGE for PHAZOR Diodes -- 200mW CW!!

7up, you can pay using PP or Google Checkout. I can send you an invoice on either.

As about the shipping... it shouldn't be more than a couple dollars for domestic shipping :)
