Can someone help me find a good temperature controlled soldering iron please.

I don't need something too powerful. Or something too expensive either.

Must be less than $75 shipped to canada.

Appreciate any help.
 





Any idea where I can get a cheap device to hold parts as I solder them.

Some "extra hands" would be useful lol.
 
I could totally use some of those "third hand devices" too. I wonder if DX sells them...
 
Haha, I did the exact same thing as that second link of sk8er's. It does work very nice.
 
I agree, Weller has been making them for decades. I have one that's got to be over 15 years old, and I haven't had any troubles with it at all!

Avoid the Radioshack irons, they have unreliable temp control...

Man that's a really cheap solder station! Are you sure this is a good choice to solder laser components?

That is one cool station! hey flaminpyro, you think that it would be a good deal? I have a cheap soldering iron which nearly killed my flexdrive, that's why I am searching for a professional station! More info would be appreciated! Thanks
P.S Note that I want an iron which is suitable for laser components as well!

That is the one I would buy and I solder on thousands of dollars worth of diodes a year. the replacement tips are ony $3.50 and there is a shit pot full of em to choose from, the iron is ESD safe, it has led indacators to let you know what mode it's in, and it's temp controled not a silly little twistie knob that YOU have to guess at, YEP I might even get it now as a back-up as my weller I'm using now is about 25 years old and I just don't know how much longer it will last.

Cool! It sounds great! You mentioned something about tips. Where can I get these replacement tips? Also, how many would I need? thanks in advance!
